When it comes to anime protagonist most people like to think about characters like Goku from Dragonball, Usagi from Sailor Moon, Ichigo from Bleach, Luffy from One Piece, Ash from Pokemon, Yugi Muto from Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto.
But my favorite anime protagonists are InuYasha and Lelouch vi Britannia.
InuYasha was a half demon that one day dreamed of being a full fledged demon but later gave it all up for Kagome's sake. Lelouch was an exiled prince who wanted to create a world where Nunnally could be happy.
They are great characters that you enjoy so much but also sympathize at the same time.
Both characters had tragic pasts. InuYasha lost his father when he was born, lost his human mother at a young age, lost the first love which was Kikyo. Sealed away at the sacred tree for 50 years. After that he and Kagome were sealed away to The Black Pearl and couldn't his own daughter, Moroha. Lelouch ví Britannia on the other hand, his mother died(but find out later that Marianne transferred herself in Anya)his own sister Nunnally was crippled, he was sent to Japan by his father Charles zi Britannia (asshole. Worst father), lost plenty of the ones he love like Shirley, Euphemia and Rolo(Don't argue).
That why they are best anime protagonists that Sunrise have given us.
