I think I'm finally happy with the dog versions of Layton and Luke (I've changed them like 80 times), and hey look, Flora's here now, too. xDI removed the dark spots on Luke that he had in the original design, I didn't forget them. xD I'm just not going to use them anymore.
I drew this for no reason, but I'm going to count it as 100 Themes #41 - Teamwork. Because the 100 themes suck. xD
They are no breeds in particular, although Layton is obviously some kind of shepherd mix.
...I still feel like he doesn't look 100% like how I want him. -_-

I just liked that, though. The way the "plot" fell apart because it was supposed to and then you find out what's really going on. It forces you to stop and think to yourself "Is that a plot hole or was that an intentional hint that more is going on than I know?"

You have such BEAUTIFUL LINE WORK WOW. May I ask if you did the line art traditionally or digitally? If digital, what program did you use? They are SO soft and fluid and beautiful!

I sketch on paper and ink digitally -- I use a program called OpenCanvas by Portal Graphics. x3 It's the ONLY way I can ink. x3 I can't use Photoshop or SAI. The website is here, I think you can get a demo: [link]
I love that you can rotate the canvas and have it snap back -- I know a few programs work that way, but I still can only work with OC. x3 When I ink, I like to add the strokes a certain way (I'm sure you understand!) and it really makes life easy.
Plus, I have never liked the way Photoshop or SAI's brushes or "pencils" looked for ink -- OpenCanvas' pencil tool just looks great.

Ah okay, so it's all digital. I've never used OC before; I always thought it was purely for people to draw together in sessions. I never thought of it as a full graphics program. Sure goes to show what I know 
Someday, if you ever get around to doing Layton as his human self, you might have to deal with me commissioning you

Some people use OC to do sessions, but only a REALLY old version of it (1.1, I think?) can do that, the later ones can't, but the later ones are a whole lot smoother and more awesome. x3
D: I can't use Illustrator, and it's necessary for my job! xD They taught it to me in college, but of course, I didn't learn it at all but they handed me my associate's anyway. xD But then my original boss (damn, I miss him) showed me CorelDraw, and I learned it in like, 5 seconds. xD Luckily, CorelDraw can save files as .ai, so even if I can't use Illustrator, I can certainly fake it. >:] (CorelDraw = cheap Illustrator)

I never used the newer version of Corel so I haven't the experience, but I learned Illustrator for work in a "trial by fire" assignment. Basically I was thrown into it, was told I HAD to use vectors (even though I had no knowledge of them or Illustrator), and so I just... did it. There's nothing like the threat of a new assignment in a new job to light the fire under your ass to learn a program in two hours
