FIGHT!...So I had my mom call the vet today because I was too scared.
Apparently she (my cat, Duchess, diagnosed with unhealthy kidneys) is doing great on the IV, and much to everyone's joy, she took a wizz. This is apparently a good sign.
The vet is POSSIBLY taking back his original, and very dire, prognosis. Duchess MAY only be suffering from an infection, which can be treated with antibiotics. If she continues to improve, I will have my baby puss back on Monday.
It really scares me to think that yesterday...I almost made what could have been the worst decision of my life.
When she was 2 (and I was 15), the vet suggested euthanasia because she had ingested dog flea powder, and her kidneys were shutting down. My mom decided to keep trying, and she pulled through. That was victory #1.
Yesterday, from the diagnosis the vet gave, even mom gave up. We even started talking about where to dig in the yard.
But I didn't feel like we had tried hard enough to give up yet, so I didn't. I had them hospitalize her and do blood work, but from how the vet described it, I was only buying her a week or so, so I was absolutely miserable. I've never felt worse in my life.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, but it's good to STOP FREAKING CRYING for like, a few hours.
Duchess, my baby, you're the best. I miss you. I want you to come home. I can't sleep alone. Good luck, baby puss.

Along with being glad my cat's not dying, I'd be mad a bit for getting such a dire prognosis.

Yeah...well, we're still not sure what will happen, but I think he was trying to prepare us for the worst.
Either way, he is right about one thing -- her kidneys will never get better...
But if we can stabilize her, we can have her for a little while longer, at least. :3

I hope she'll be OK. The scariest thing about pets is that they can't tell you what's wrong with them, so it's hard to determine what's best. I still wonder if something could have been done with out first cat, but I take comfort in knowing that our second was pretty much untreatable; putting both of them down was for the best.

yeah, I wish I had known something was seriously wrong with her earlier, so I could have gotten her to the vet a week ago! But I thought that she wasn't eating for other reasons.
I'm sorry to hear about your kitties...sometimes I feel like I should never have pets, because this end of it feels so freaking awful.
...But I can't live without them. x3

Yeah, I hear a lot of people say you shouldn't get pets because eventually you have to put them down (or they'll die in 10 years). But I just think you can't really think about that; you have to live in the moment with them :3

I'm glad there's hope for your beloved cat. I know what it's like to have a close pet on the verge of death (except mine actually died before we could do much of anything because of financial issues). I give my best hopes that Duchess will be ok

Good luck on that. My house is crawling with cats, literally, and so far we've had some troubling times with the vet. ;_; No crying until the end.

...also that's a sad story. It reminds me of my old cat Kitsby.
She was getting old and had failing kidneys cause of diabetes. We had to put her down last year. :c

I've never dealt with possibly losing an animal that is THIS close to me, and that I've had for 13 whole years. It's absolutely killing me. -_-

Ahh, Kitsby has been around since even before I was born... 3 years to be exact. So it makes sense. She was 18. Really getting up there in age. :<
I know how you feel though. I really do. I've lost SO many pets... and it doesn't take me very long to get close to something. Give me a new animal and try to take it away after only 3 days. JUST TRY AND SEE HOW THAT GOES. I get attached to animals too quickly. D;
Which reminds me- we got rid of the kittens we were fostering, already. I've probably cried a million times already. I really miss Dezi... oh god, she was so beautiful. ;A;

I had a baby sparrow named Mr. Weebles. We gave him to a wildlife sanctuary after I took care of him for 3 days, and I was SO SAD to be without him. D:

I've sent plenty of baby birds to what we call our "bird place" too. Cx
We mostly find sparrows, finches, and robins, but one time, my sister and I found a RARE bird. I can't remember it's name, but... it was really funny cause we went to the Philly zoo, and they had that same bird there. LOL :'D
And I really do like fostering, but I don't think I can handle it. If my mom never kept that schizo cat Sandy, and her brother Honda, maybe I could've kept Dezi... but my dad said no more animals. And now Im really upset and worried that I can never see her again, because her sister already has an adoption pending. dsgfd I DONT WANT HER TO GOOOOOO ;__; *cry*

I couldn't take that, at all.
If an animal is in my house, I want it to stay there.
There are exceptions...I've had two baby squirrels in my life. They are very friendly, loving, cuddly things. BUT THEY ARE MONSTERS. I let both of them go when they got old enough, without even a tear, because I COULDN'T HANDLE THEIR PSYCHOTIC BEHAVIOR. xD
