Island Name & Hometown: Dream Eater Village, Slumbering Mountains ( distant past )
History:
Sun was born and raised in a small village on what is now the Slumbering Mountains in the distant past.
From a young age Sun developed a love for martial arts. He would sit outside the village dojo all day, watching the master teach his disciples all that he knew. Even though he was too young to join, he would grab just about anything roughly resembling a bo staff and copy what he saw. It led to quite a few bumps and bruised, but also drew the dojo master's attention. Sun was praised for his perseverance, and that only set in stone that Sun wanted to become a martial artist himself.
So the moment he was old enough, he turned up at the dojo's doorstep and practically begged to join. The master just patted his head, agreeing on the spot with a hearty laugh. He knew this day was coming, and he had long since accepted that Sun would become one of his students.
Sun trained every single day, from dawn until dusk, determined to make his master proud and become one of the best disciples he'd taken under his wing.
At long last, Sun gained the confidence to challenge the master to a duel to test his abilities. He had been training so hard, surely he'd be able to hold his own... right?
Only he was knocked flat on his ass within minutes. He managed to block some hits, parry a couple others, but never landed a single hit on his opponent.
Pride thoroughly wounded, Sun returned home to tend to his bruises and scrapes. For a while after he just thought about the match over and over, wondering what he could have done different... or if he even really stood a chance at all.
He hated so much that he still wasn't strong enough even after all his training, and one day concocted a plan to amp up his skills. He had witnessed the master take down beasts in the mountains... so he needed to do that too!
So one day instead of his usual training, he trekked into the mountains to hunt down something big and powerful to challenge. Following tracks led him to a cave system no doubt being used as a den. He would find a beast, lead it out into the open where he could properly use his bo staff, and take it down! The perfect plan!
But... Sun wandered in the caves far longer than he thought. He walked deeper and deeper with no sight of anything living. And the more he walked, the dizzier he got. Low oxygen levels maybe? Just how deep had he wandered? He thought about turning back, but before he could see daylight again, he finally lost consciousness deep in the twists and turns of the cave.
He thought for sure he was dead, but he actually woke back up. Only... he wasn't in the caves. He was laying on an equally rocky path, but the sun was overhead now. Did someone find him and drag him back out?
"Oh look, it lives."
Sun nearly jolted right out of his skin. He hadn't noticed before, but there was a figure standing over him. He had a set of horns on his head and a large tail, and in his brain fogged state Sun thought it was a mountain beast. But when he scrambled back and got a better look.... it was just a Growlithe. One that was scrutinizing him hard.
"W-Where am I??"
The Growlithe exchanged a look with a second person nearby, a Skitty by the looks of it.
"The Slumbering Mountains...?"
"... The what now??"
They exchanged a look again. The skitty wasn't very talkative it seemed, but they were somehow able to communicate anyways.
"You lose your memory or something?" The Growlithe asked.
"What? No, my head is just fine! I've just never heard of the 'Slumbering Mountains'!"
Another look exchange. God he wished they would just speak! But as he was getting more frustrated, the Growlithe hoisted him back to his feet by the collar of his shirt.
"Alright, you're coming with us."
Sun was handed his bo staff and given a motion to follow. When he asked where they were going, the Growlithe mentioned a place called the GCSF. Sun didn't have any better ideas right then, feeling utterly lost, so followed after them as they headed back down the mountain.
When they arrived at Ethovalon anf went to the guild headquarters, Sun finally explained everything that happened. And what they told him nearly broke every cell in his brain.
A wormhole was in the cave. He wasn't in his own time anymore. He had somehow ended up in the future.
Needless to say, it took some time for Sun to truly come to terms with his new reality. There was no guarantee that he could ever return to his time, even if he found that exact same wormhole. So... he had to adjust to this new time. If the master taught him anything, it was how to adapt.
So he hunted down the couple that helped him, and upon finding out they ran a bounty hunter team in the guild, requested to join them. He could put his martial arts skills to use here, he refused to just mope around forever!
Thankfully they both agreed to let him join them, and this Sun became the newest member of Shattered Embers.
