I know, right? So much more fun to design than the conventional layout.

If you finish the rifle at the bottom left of the AK, I'd love to use that eventually for my stories...

You could probably use it as is. What more do you need?

Just a cleaned up illustration with some kind of futuristic Aimpoint and a tactical light and I'll be happy

It's up there on the priority development list, for what it's worth

Wow! That AK-215 looks badass. Any more on that weapon, partner?

Next-generation Russian assault rifle to replace the AK-74M et al. It's not really a member of the AK-47 family - completely different internals - and it's ergonomics are a throwback to the Masada. I haven't really thought much further than that. Got input?

Mixing East and West weapons tech? Asking for an AK that's got the potentially internal problems of the M-16, as that's what much of the Masada (Bushmaster ACR now) is copied from. I want definitely keep watch on the specs of the new AK-200. That's current gen work there.

I was under the belief that the -200 was a 'ghost rifle' - a mocked-up -74 with fancy furniture intended as internal/external propaganda.
You know your guns. What's your opinion on the specs a next-generation Russian battle rifle would have?

Little something more technical to add to that: the AK-200, is based on the AK-74M and differs in weight (3.8 kilograms/8.4 lbs vs. 3.3 kilograms/7.3 lbs) and the magazine capacity (30, 50, 60 rounds vs. 30).
So, there's a little leeway to your question. The former answer actually tells us alot.

Hell no, man. It's been just over a year since the release . I did a full write-up on what we had back then here , and there hasn't been much since. But, Kalashnikov's been releasing some new gear. When that weapon released it was seen with that 60-round casket-mag. First of it's kind. Since then Magpul, Spectre and Atkinson released "STANAG-compatible" AR casket mags. They aren't STANAG-compats, for the record.
Anyhow, since the release there's only what I've covered, and that was EVERYTHING (guaranteed), and what was seen on the Firearm Blog (who had it first) and what's seen on it's Wiki .
It's just seems to be an AK in a 21-century gunfighter shell, but like I said, we don't have anything to go on past what's right there for you. While that's said, it's not smart to modify what's 100-perfect right now in the rifle market. Because whatever Kalash' did with his weapon was right on the money in the second assault of modern history.

I like these. You do a great job of updating modern weapon design trends without making them too outlandish.
