Quick fanart of The Witcher (this game, and the books it comes from, are just made of epic awesomeness XD) made while I was supposed to do my homework, as usual
For those who aren't familiar with the character, Geralt of Rivia is a mutant trained to kill monsters. I guess the way I represented him deserves a little explanation, since I didn't choose to draw him killing a horrible monster during an epic battle, but just playing cards. Well, this is a joke for those who have played the game : you can have romances with women, that allow you to collect playing cards representing pin-ups. And, well, since Geralt is what he is... you can have MANY romances.
As I said above this is a quick drawing so I didn't really look for elaborated things (yes I'm lazy, what a shame) and the style is a bit different from what I'm used to do, but I had fun doing a humorous fanart of that dark character. The sketch was looking good enough (even if I screwed the anatomy and completely forgot about the background, as usual) to be finished in Chinese ink.

I didn`t read any translations, but i must tell you, that original, polish edition of the Saga is... amazing.
I just hope that translators didn`t destroyed all of the Witcher`s magic

Well, too bad I can't compare the French edition with the Polish one, but I really liked the universe, the overall stories and point of views, and the characters. It was quite refreshing and definitely different from usual fantasy standards, in a very, VERY good way.
I've finished the fourth book a while ago. I'm waiting to buy the fifth one and read it

Yes, they were re-edited right after The Witcher (the game) came out. Actually there are 4 books out of 5 translated, plus The Last Wish and the other series of short stories (I don't know its name in English

Plus, it reminds me one scene from the book, where Geralt was playing cards with the dwarfs (it's in 'The baptism of fire' , as far as I remember).

Questions ; il n'y a que des jeux de dés dans The Witcher ? Les seules cartes que je connaissent dans ce jeu ne ressemblent pas au sept familles... Pourquoi lui doit-on ce joli sourire ?

Ah the Witcher ; un grand moment vidéoludique je trouve, j'ai vraiment été à fond dedans du début jusqu'à la fin
Ouaip, le seul jeu est le poker de dés (auquel je suis nulle... j'ai gagné deux fois et pourtant j'y ai passé des vraies après midi, contre Carmen et le jardinier dans le quartier du temple). Tu peux aussi faire du fight club dans les tavernes, ce qui rapporte beaucoup plus d'orins parce que c'est beaucoup plus facile.
Et non, ce ne sont pas des cartes des 7 familles, mais bel et bien les autres qu'il a dans les mains (d'ou le sourire et le titre)

XD j'avais cette image dans la tête, avec cette histoire de cartes... j'imagine bien Jaskier (son pote troubadour) en train de faire le paon avec plus de cartes dans les mains en face !
Comme dit au-dessus je pense que je vais essayer de faire un fanart plus sérieux et en adéquation avec l'esprit des livres la prochaine fois ^^

I've to say I haven't been reading such good books for a long time, and I was really happy to discover Sapkowski's universe, which is less "good-&-evil-axed" (nothing is really black or white, but more made of shades of grey) with mature characters and actual problematics, than other fantasy pieces.
In my opinion the game is reflecting this atmosphere very well, especially during dialogues. Sometimes, as Geralt says, you can only choose "the lesser of two evils" and even staying neutral in a few situations has a bitter price. I seriously think it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played on PC.
In which country do you live ? maybe you can find the books in english. I'm reading them in french and cannot compare the translation with the original version since I don't speak Polish, but you can always try.

Yes, the best thing about this game is the choice that you can do, and its consequences. The character is close to our way of being, but still has his personal charisma.
Few games have that great peculiarity...

Aww Italy is such a beautiful place
USA are more restrictive than other countries about nudity (same thing with dA policy btw)... while watching the making-of, I discovered violence was another subject of censorship for this game.
I guess dialogues were also participating in the censorship, since they are sometimes quite rude. One of the weirdest being probably a conversation between Geralt and a dryad in the forest XD

La fin est abusément violente, j'ai récupéré 2 glaives et une armure de fou... MAIS LE JEU ETAIT TROP COURT T_T
Je pense que je vais le recommencer et jouer différemment... (notamment pour le chap 1, ou j'avais livré la sorcière aux villageois !) et en DIFFICILE !
