A family so happy,
And yet torn in two.

A town that’s too perfect,
To really be true.

A fight between lovers,
A smile on top.
When the company comes
The quarrels all stop.

That girl she’s so strong
Taking care of her own
With her mother gone.
The tears only come
From the moon to the dawn.

Some things aren’t quite
What they appear.
They’re more covert,
Not nearly so clear.

A bruise from falling
Down a flight of stairs
Is really the first
In a long line of tears
From a husband too angry
To notice his wife despairs
Of ever being freed from his daily tyranny.

A friendship seems flawless,
But all is not well.

Some things look as if
They have nothing to hide.
To see the “real” of them
We have to look on the other side.
