Because I have had multiple requests for this over the years and I finally found it buried deep in the external driver, here is the Autobot Pattern I created for crochet. Ultimately, this can be converted to anything, from cross stitch to bead work, to ... whatever. Feel free to use.

To crochet, a lighter yarn stitched in with a double stitch seems to work the best. Every square represents a stitch. To keep it neat, crochet with both the shield color and the background color st the same time and "carry the yarn". There are lots of online tutorials for this technique. Just enter "how to carry yarn for crochet". (I don't teach people how to crochet, sorry)
