None of the humans nor any of the seaponies or hippogriffs in the group could have suspected that three totally unrelated things would team up to attempt bring ruin to all of them.

The first thing to try and bring ruin to them was the Party Crashers Extremest Environmental group and Ewing Oil. This is the Ewing Oil from the TV show Dallas as a running gag that like it or not the characters find themselves facing the kitbash.

Ewing Oil had a small 1970's oil rig that had pumped out 80,000 barrels of oil a day. The rig was old and had once pumped 150,000 barrels a day in its' hey day but it was nearing retirement. The trouble was a massive mega oil field had been discovered on the other side of the portal between Earth and Equestria near Seaquestria.

The idea that seaponies and hippogriffs were to be treated as people was thrown out the door when oil company drilled a 30 mile long well from the old oil rig into Seaquestria to start pumping out of the massive 150 billion barrels of untapped oil that was technically in Seaquestria.

As for the Party Crashers they felt that the only way to get human kind or in their main case to get Florida off off of their horrible addiction to fossil fuels was to make the state of Florida go cold turkey even if it meant shutting down most of the seven million gasoline powered cars roads that were still on the roads in 2024. Along all of the fossil fuel power plants even if all of society had to shut down for a time regardless if it did a lot of damage or even got people killed. The Party crasher's regards for the human oil workers or anyone who worked at the power plants were that they were foot solders for the Pigs and it didn't mater how many of them were injurried or even killed in the war.

The Seaponies at the time didn't think much about the old 1970's oil rig and the undersea pipelines. They had never seen a oil spill and the oil rig and pipelines were covered in claims that seaponies loved to eat. What did get the seaponies upset was when they dismanted the old oil rig and replaced it with a new monster Oil rig that could pump out 500,000 barrels of oil a day. The new oil rig was big and there were talks of building a 500 mile ocean floor oil pipeline from Seapony Cay to Miami Florida to pump out a million barrels of oil a day of oil and natural gas.

The new oil rig didn't upset the seaponies what upset the seaponies was Seapony Cay was starting to get turned into a oil terminal. In that all of the big docks and ship ports that the cruise ship the Seas Pride was used to docking in. Those massive deep water docks were in fact used to dock oil tankers so they could fill up with oil in the 1970's though the 1990's. It was also common to see one oil tanker dock every two weeks to fill up on oil while the cruise ship was not in port.

When the new much larger oil rig started construction it soon became clear that Seapony Cay was not a vacation spot but was in fact a oil terminal that had a  tropical paradise sitting next to it. Now it was common to see a super oil tanker filling up once a day in port even next to the cruise ship.

The second thing to go wrong was a few weeks ago Terramar and his sister Sliverstream along with Princess Skystar had been invited to the Kennedy Space Center a few weeks ago. Tarramar had discovered a 50 mile across ice asteroid break up after being hit by another major asteroid. This was a rare and freakish event but yet Terramar having no experience or understanding of NASA or what space was for that mater was able to witness the giant ice asteroids break up.

The remains of the ice water asteroids were now spinning around the earth in a accretion disk sending chunks of ice that were to small to hit the earth. But instead the ice chunks were in fact turning into steam in earth's atmosphere and were now making their way down into the global Equestria Earth water cycle.
