Description
A lesson with Jayfeather. No one wants to be here, teacher included.The cats from left to right art Jayfeather, Briarpaw, Blossompaw, Bumblepaw, and Ivypaw. This takes place during the first OOTS book. I thought it would make a cute picture.

Nice work! I love how you did the markings on all the cats--looks much more realistic than most fan interpretations. The only thing I'd suggest is to make Jayfeather's pupils more clouded, so that he actually looks blind (no pun intended).

Ivypaw looks pissed, but it's a wonderful picture. I love it. I also love how only Blossompaw seems to be paying attention to Jayfeather while Briarpaw and Bumblepaw are looking at Ivypaw.

Amazing! Exactly how I imagined this x3 The poses are really accurate, I think it's really difficult drawing sitting cats for some reason x]
I especially love how you drew Jayfeather, and his markings are really nicely done~ You can tell just how uninterested he is by his expression too XD

Haha, yeah I didn't even realize people would notice the eye thing. I've never imagined him with white pupils, and he isn't described as having them, so I didn't give it a second thought. I'm actually surprised more people haven't commented on it now that I think about it.

I think Jayfeather has black pupils, too. I guess it does add a nice touch to make them pale blue/white, but it's kind of too mainstream here on dA. It's really nice that you made him stare at nothing in particular, tho. Nice touch ^^

He was born blind and pupils usually only go white if they have some type of growth like cataracts, or if they are damaged in some way. Sometimes they are white from birth, but it depends on what caused the blindness. I've seen several cats (and people) with normal looking eyes, that were blind, and then a few that were blind on one side and sighted on the other and unless you suddenly moved into their vision, you couldn't even tell.
To my knowledge I don't think he's been described as having white pupils, so I just drew them normally.
You'll notice he isn't actually looking at any of the apprentices.

And he actually has black pupils, it drives me a little nuts that everyone thinks that his pupils are white when they're not. The Erins have made multiple pictures that portray him, such as the Power of Three book cover, and his pupils are black. That on top of no one knowing he was blind for a while because his eyes weren't outwardly affected (and new cats he meets don't know immediately), shows he's got black pupils. Yet people still argue over what color they are 
Sorry for the slight rant. It just bugs me is all.

Haha, no I totally get it. White pupils is the easiest way to show blindness, even if it's not quite correct, and so people use it. I've never imagined him that way, he's never described that way, and you're right, no one notices it immediately, so I didn't draw him that way.
But I don't think it's commonly known that blind eyes aren't always white, so I can understand the confusion.
