I think so, too! That song is very wonderful!
I think that it is the best game song in 2007.

It is very clever. You'll love all the references to cake and all those little odds and ends that make a game so lovable.

No, not for anintendo console, sadly enough, only for the 360. I was hoping it would come out for wii, but it's made by a company (valve) that works for microsoft. If you ever get a 360, it's in the orange box- a game with 5 quality games in it. Portal is a very very short adventure, but it's epic. You get a real buzz out of trying to escape the underground test centre, where the mainframe is obviously trying to kill you. (That's GLaD0s, bottom left pic). It's very fun using portals and mucking about flying through them. I reccomend it if you should ever my a 360. : ( sad. Why isn't there just one console from all the companies?

It is not only for 360. You can also get it for PC through Steam. the 360 version has more bonus levels. Same story though.

Dude, put a spoiler warning A lot of people still haven't played Portal. I happen to have, but you need to make sure people who haven't don't get it spoiled completely by reading these posts.

Wondercheese In reply to Seien-24 [2008-03-03 17:07:56 +0000 UTC]

sorry, but its not really a spoiler as it is apparent as soon as you start the game.

--SPOILER WARNING FOR PORTAL--

Not true:

" You get a real buzz out of trying to escape the underground test centre" <----it's not REMOTELY evident that you're trying to escape until about half way through the game. Before then, you're just trying to do the tests and solve the puzzles. Until the midpoint when you have to start working against GLaDOS instead of doing what she says, you're *not trying to escape*. So, that's a huge spoiler right there.

"where the mainframe is obviously trying to kill you. (That's GLaD0s, bottom left pic)." <----Where the main computer, who for the first half of the game is advising you in only a slightly sinister way about how *not* to die, is in fact trying to kill you. And by the way, in case I hadn't told you enough, this is a rendition of what the computer looks like.

>_O;

umm no actually at the start bit it says that at aperture science we believe that patients can undergo testing while suffering intense pain so just in case you dont make it through the testing goodbye. and after like the fifth lift thing she says after the testing you will be missed. and then a few later she drops you into an android testing centre. then she says you will be baked and then there will be cake. pfft its not like the game only lasts like an hour anyway

--PORTAL SPOILERS--

The whole point of the game is that there's a *lot* of psychological manipulation. If you already know what's happening it ruins the atmosphere.

The game is 2-5 hours. That's a substantial time out of anyone's day.

Half the people I know thought she said thanked. So well done for spoiling ANOTHER bit, Einstein.

Smasher006 In reply to Seien-24 [2009-03-05 19:03:02 +0000 UTC]

When it comes to game completion time, Portal can be completed from the world record 14 minutes to about two hours.

Oh, and for the picture, Great Work!

Wondercheese In reply to Seien-24 [2008-03-07 20:52:26 +0000 UTC]

That's not spoiling, that's just piecing in a bit that they missed. Surely that would increase their gaming experience. Yeah, 2-5 hours, that's a substantial time out of anyone's DAY. You can complete it in one sitting. And im not saying thats a bad thing, just.

Seien-24 In reply to Wondercheese [2008-03-09 15:36:24 +0000 UTC]

It is spoiling, to people who *actually* care about spoilers. You shouldn't decide for other people what does and doesn't matter that they read about a game. Just have a little courtesy before you start splooging your opinions all over the internet and actually put a warning on, to avoid the possibility of fucking up someone's gameplay experience.

Wondercheese In reply to Seien-24 [2008-03-09 16:43:05 +0000 UTC]

Don't you think that that's put a little harshly?
I'd never reveal a plot twist, even a minor one in game, but just describing what happens almost the whole way through the game is hardly a "spoiler" That's like saying in Mario 64 "You play as mario"
Because you spend more time...
~sigh... SPOILER WARNINGS FOR PORTAL~
..escaping than actually going through the test centre.
"Half the people I know thought she said thanked. So well done for spoiling ANOTHER bit, Einstein."
As I said, that's just filling in what the game says anyway. When GLaD0s says "You will be baked and then there will be cake" Thinking she said "thanked" can be fixed by me saying that she says "baked" and thats just something they missed which the game informs them of at that time anyway.
Plus, surely the things in the above image reveal spoilers. There were no spoiler warnings? No. You didn't complain. No-one did.
And plus, in saying that, I was convincing someone to buy the game, and they wouldn't have bought it anyway if I hadn't done otherwise (not to say that such and such WILL buy the game, but)
So think carefully before you snap at someone like that.

Nobody minds you convincing someone to buy the game, but this is a public forum and there are other people who might not want to see it. I know I'd have been furious if I'd seen that comment before playing the game. All I'm saying is you should offer them the choice rather than waiting before it's too late for them to find out.
