CP sheet for Eternityspool of GilaI didn't have quiet enough with the art, so I wrote a bit to fill in the rest
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The heat radiated from the very ground. Scorching sand singed her paw pads. Her heartbeat thudded in her chest in time with her footsteps as she tore across the desert. Thumpthump thumpthump. The only other sound was the desperate panting, scratching over a sandpaper throat, dry from dehydration. Grrrrr. She gritted her teeth and pushed on with a short burst of extra speed. She had not come all this way, escaped all her pain, only to die of thirst like some pathetic pup. The air in front of her seemed to shimmer, either from heat rising off the golden sand, or her own mind betraying her.
I… will… not… give… up! She continued on for another few miles, but the endless sand kept stretching on and on. Slowly, she lost speed. Eventually she was only barely trudging along, paws dragging and leaving little trails in the sand. She forced herself to climb up one more dune, then collapsed. She fought to stay awake, knowing if she closed her eyes, they would not reopen.
Just a little break. Just a little rest… then I will move on. She wasn’t sure if she was being followed, or if they would chase her down eventually. All she knew for sure was that she had to put as much distance between the town and herself. She wearily lifted her head, and looked to the horizon. Wait… is something there? She knew she was far from any settlement, but maybe… She stumbled down the other side of the dune, and continued marching toward the dark spot. As she drew closer, she made out towering cliffs and columns of rough orange rock. Hope flared in her chest.
Shade! And maybe even water… She seemed to find a hidden reserve of energy and drove on towards the rocks. After a while, she made it. Practically crawling, she made her way deeper into the maze of rocks, and found a small trickle of water running down a shaded gulch. She gulped down as much as she could. After a few minutes, she gathered herself, and stood triumphant over the stream. She roared to the sky,
“I made it! I escaped, and they will never find me now! I made it, and I will survive!”
