Description
Something I was playing around with tonight.Made me a new desktop - my first actually - since I usually work on a smaller scale.
I basically took a head shot from a previous shoot of mine and designed a body, the clothing, and surrounding.
I was listening to soft femalish music that had a melancholy flavor to it - music always effects my art, and I can't create without it *
PSP 7.0
Digital Camera (head shot)

A few years late in commenting on this fantastic piece.. This piece shows manipulation at its best. The negative space around the female figure gives her a ghostly glow, making her stand out from her surroundings and the people that I assume are dancing behind her. The clothing and pearls give her a vintage, aged look that came from older times. I automatically think of a flapper girl from the 1920's, only a darker version of one. There are so many details in this that you have to look over and over to actually view them all. Beautiful work!

The musical influence comes through your work quite clearly. I especially like the look on your face, it set the mood from the get go. Definitely deserving of the Daily Deviation. Excellent work.

This is one of the few thing's I've seen that really seems to have mood, emotion and life in it.
I think the emotion in this picture is amazing, it is really something special.
It looks fantastic, what else can I say?

And if only it fit my wallpaper-- although, as is, it would make a good CD cover.
I listen to Enya (not really melancholic) but I like this style of art... reminds me of europe, and how much prettier looking the buildings are there. This is great... I suggest you experiment more with this style...
You _will_ experiment more with this style

When you started the thread in the forum about what kind of art could be posted here, I had no idea what to expect. I have, so far, been so delighted with your wonderful art. It is intriguing, beautifully done and contains a perfectly elegant spark of creative genius.

I really like your theme to it. It gives you that feeling of serenity and tranquility. I admire your work and hope to see some more in the future, maybe even on the daily deviation. Good work.

The combination of the photo and textures is amazing, and your style is great. It just adds a whole new depth to what would have been an ordinary piece. I love it! it's so dark and emotional

I don't believe anyone's mentioned this yet, but the dancers in the picture frame/window really make this piece for me. They remind me of the work of one of the masters, Monet, I believe. Don't quote me. ...I could write a story about this, and I feel that's one of the greatest compliments I could ever give. Pieces such as this will help to propel digital art into the realm of "high" art. Spiral out, keep going...

Awesome art it seems to hold a depression, sad, rainy somber type feeling to it the way her face is reflecting in this one, the surroundings just add more of that feeling to it i really like these pieces of art, great job. and a very unique and creative idea as well.

wow.. this is a great job. Im not gonna quote on this, but i also think it has a sort of erotic, emotional feeling to it.
But more of a sad, depressional feeling than eroctic, she seems sad.
But i think you really caught love in this picture, both wonderful and sad at the same time.
Great work, im in awe...

The light, colour and contrasting black make this an easy image to look at.
AHA! I know what it is about your work, to take a word you used in your description, it's "melancholy" -- it reminds me of This Mortal Coil. Music which at the time blew my mind and left me with wonderful memories.
Thankyou

beautifully done, now this reminds me of the colored b&2 photos that were so popular in the 20s -- i especially like the window behind her, the flowers, && the skirt ;D good job && keep on it, though it'd be nice to have some stuff in 1280 once in a while [hint hint]
