Yes the unreleased form of starfox two could do that, if you put it into macros termns it could not go ino battleoid mode, but only guardian, i have the rom, but its in japanese. still i play it cause o ftha tfact.

Little known fact ... in the unreleased SNES sequel to the Original game (StarFox2), the Arwings could actually do that ... it was sweet.
I like the all-out Robetech take on the idea ... cool concept.
