Description God called in sick today,
and the sky is dancing.
People walked hand in hand
singing in tune with the damned.

Running without stories
β€˜this is what tragedy feels like’
dead is the new alive
but misery loves company.

Racing with the devil
one doesn't dare stop against
the lord of the damned
he laughs against the concrete.

Can one play with madness
as they dance on clouds of mind?
Heavens a lie when butterflies are flying in hurricanes
And God takes a day off.

Wasted time throwing rocks at stars
souls refuse their eternal rest
they drink a cup of galaxy for breakfast
hymn of the shameless.

Obsession is an ugly word.
When dead becomes the new alive
the devil walks the earth
and God takes a day off work.

It actually does. I didn't realise that the author of this wasn't the one who'd compiled the list, but the person who did compile the list was definitely taking titles from AFI. Besides, it's kind of an iconic title. I'm not trying to be rude to the author or anything, just stating.

It doesn't sound anything like the song. :/

It does, in a way; they're both about God not particularly noticing what's going on.

Same title doesn't equal the same exact song. The title goes great with it anyways.
All you have is the same title and basic concept of God taking a day off but its a beautiful, well thought out, poem. The title shouldn't matter, the body of the poem should.

I really like this. Very rhythmatic and well-thought out. ^_^

This is crazy as hell and I love it.

And I'm non-religious.

Feel pretty fucking proud right now.

I'm not much of a poetry person, but this is great. It makes me think.

Oh and I love the Emilie Autumn references

Nothing makes sense these days. People are loving, crazy, generous, destructive, giving and cruel. Madness walks the earth interspersed with miracle like glimpses of kindness and self-sacrifice.

That's what you made me think of anyway. I think its a lovely work.

The sun was shining, the day was warm and bright so like lots of people God called in sick, the only ones that do that are ones that get paid whether they are at work or not. LOL
