The detail is nice but I found the subject to be rather kitsch. It looked pretty but that's about it. No real other level to it.

i thought this somewhat reselbled a pom pom on the dd thumb, but up close this looks amazing. the centered crop makes it look even better, wow..!

this is an amazing shot....what a great caputre..and pay no attention to what yathosho says,with his polltution and traffic...blah...blah......this is a great technical shot...macros this crisp are not an easy task.

Great work Ojster. While i am not a big fan of photography as a whole, i can tell a good one when i see it, and this is a good one The colours and details are amazing! And Yathosho, Don't just go super negative on a piece of 'art' (yes, photos are art) because u don't like it. Offer some constructive criticism or something...Just a friendly reminder to keep Devart the supportive and friendly community which it should be. Nature is beautiful indeed, and this is a great example of this

Thank you all for your comments. I was really surprised to see my photo in the right column on the main page when I checked out Deviantart site.
I am glad you like the photo. It is true, that I am not an artist and I will never bee one, but I like to take photographs of nature and I want to make it as real as possible. I think nature is the best artist and I just want to capture it's beauty.

Very nice This may not have taken as long as some other works on deviant art but such a photograph requires a keen eye, good timing and a knowledge of photography... I think your comments are out of line yathosho - if you don't like some of the wonderful photography on show here then don't visit the photography section! These photos are hardly "polluting" devart

With a macro shot there are no interesting angles, no composition, no technicality.. Its obvious why it was chosen... its beautiful! and its real!. looks great. congrats ojster.

ok, macro shots are cool. this is a quite bad example of a good macro shot. "the ability to capture such amazing details" is NOT impressive at all. like all of your lousy nature shots, this is just polluting devart with unnecessary traffic. no compostion, no interesting angle, not even technically outstanding. man, it's deviant ART not deviant SNAPSHOTS!

Clean photos like this are hard to find, but a lot of your collection is crystal clear. Most of the photographs on the net are dirty (no idea why... but they are) this isn't... although I don't see why this won DD and your other stuff didn't, it's all pretty good photography.

Yes I have manual control, but I rarely use it. automatic settings are great in most cases.
Yes I tried spraying, but I prefer to take rainy flower photos after rain, light is kind of different then.

i don't think i've looked at a flower this close. the high contrast of the color of the petals and the bright yellow of the anther is very nice. (i suddenly had this greater appreciation for the beauty of nature now.. ). a very lovely subject.
