I finally beat Fallout 4. (I've had the game since June 2019, but I kept exploring lots before continuing the main quest line.)
Okay. So that this particular story doesn't end too sad, I'll imagine Layla's mom Julia snuck out of the Brotherhood of Steel during the Rockets Red Glare quest. While she proved her strength with the Brotherhood, maybe it wasn't the best group for her to join in the end after all.
