That anime always confused me.

It was a bit of a learning curve, but Harlock went pirate for his own good reasons.

My first exposure to this character was through a comic book drawn by the often controversial Barry Blair. Never did see the anime.

There was a cartoon spin off from the book first, then a full blown movie.

Yeah, that was a pretty hokey pirate... especially the robot parrot.

The pirate with it couldn't even pronounce words properly either. Like Betelguese. Bay-tal-gee-zee by ass... it's pronounced Beetlejuice, you dumb-ass pirate. And what native of Pennsylvania calls his state Pee-Ayy? It's like a Mainer like me calling my state Em-Ee. It just isn't done!
And what the devil is an Epsilon orbit?
And Tellurians is just another (fancy) name for Earth people for God's sake!
The story itself wasn't too bad though (other than the hokey pseudo-science); better than most of the stories from the later two seasons.
