Description A piece fanart that I made long ago, back somewhere in 2022, for Keenan Taylor for his Tales of Kaimere videos on YouTube.

It was made to illustrate his explanations of the subject and for additionnal educatives purposes, here specificaly for the "Pterosaurs of Kaimere" mini-series.

This piece was inspired by the "Evolution Series" of the paleoartist Julio Larcerda online, which the goal of this specific arts is to depict the overall evolutionary journey of several clades of aniamals, representing by several key members of each clades. From the most basal and ancient to the most derived and young, to form a line which does not by any way represent a direct line with all the species depicted being the direct ancestor or descendant of the others, but who act as rather plausible models for how their respective family's transition happened.

If interested, you can find his entire series at these links :

(include all of the Evolution pictures from Terrors Birds to Whales, but don't include the ones about Dragons)

Here, I wanted here to made a evolutionary line of the well-known Notzokideu, the flightless and sapient pterosaurs of Tales of Kaimere and one of the most famous and popular creature of his Spec Evo world by it's followers/fans.

The Notzokieu is one of the oldest species imagined and created by Keenan at the beginning of the creation of Tales of Kaimere. This pterosaur, here in 2023 as we speak, was created there almost 10 years back (so somewhere around 2013), and because Keenan's designer artist skills and knowledge about prehistoric life have improved between this two dates, this had lead to some redesigns of this species over the years.

The very first design made for this creature is the second at left, before he draw a second one, the third, who will remained as such during a very, very long time, even used in several videos of his YouTube channel, before Keenan made a third and final/definitive redesign of it for the "Pterosaurs of kaimere" mini-series in early 2023 (and turning the Notzokideu from an Azhdarchid to a Tapejarid in the same time, thing Keenan wanted to do a long time before).

But even if the final results, in term of physical appearance look very nice and awesome looking (the final design is very beautifull !), for me, however, there was a problem.

Its second/old designs, as already said upper, was already used in several videos before the ones dedicated about the Pterosaurs.

And also that redesign are, for me, in Tales of Kaimere, my biggest nitpick because that create continuity's problems about the Lore.
The first Book Antology have several colored pictures at the end, showing the creatures that appeared in each stories, but there some that were redesign after its release/publication. Since these illustrations still always present in book 1, they are so because of that, still canon as an effect.

The second/old designs of the Notzokideu isn't part of the illustrations used at the end of the first Anthology book, but still was very used enough, (a lot) in the YouTube videos, and what we see in it and what is explained as info are completely canon to the Books's Lore/Universe, so the finality is the same.

And because of all this, I was in the idea to put things in order to made a compromise, to resolve the why the animal don't look like it was previousely shown before.

I remember Julio Lacerda's arts and that gave me the idea of this piece.

The two olds design were officially by Keenan repurposed as extinct relatives of the Notzokideu, and the remaining extants relatives of it in Modern Times, like the Juiji (at the very left) we see at the Kaishel the South Continent dedicated video, we're basal members of their flightless group that evovled and remained on Kaishel (while the Notzokideu lineage is derived and split from the Juiji's lineage when Pakardia, the big island at the middle of the Known World, where the stories of Tales of kaimere take place, broke off from Kaishel with the Notzokideu on it).

I figured that the first and second designs look a lot to the Juiji/Kaishelan flightless tapejarid's overall bodyshape, and so, since the very ancestors of the Notzokideu obviousely look exactly at the base like the kaishelan group's members, tjings were perfectly good and matched to made such a piece !

Even more since the two olds designs were still canon as extinct realtives, but still wanted to made that clear for everyones with a fanart showing it.

And so, I used both the Juiji's design and all the Notzokideu's design made in Tales of Kaimere's historic and put them as like the animals on Julio Larcerda's Evolution Series !

I made the fanart, but sadly, I try numerous times to send it to Keenan, but I wasn't able to send him in times and, as such, this fanart wasn't used in the episode in question.

Which is a shame, but things are like that.

I'm still very proud of the final result (which still technically canon to Tales of Kaimere's Lore/Universe anyway, since everything we see in it is completely accurates infos as it's officially explained and established in current Kaimere's status informations, and don't possess any inconsistencies toward it, so people can take this piece as a free additionnal educative picture showing how things really are in Keenan's Spec Evo universe at the end. At least there still a win !)

Otherwise, it would have informative and helpful for this video !
