Description
Origins
It was ultimately decided that something resembling a dinosaur would be the best bet for Godzilla's final design, as dinosaurs were popular at the time. Additionally, "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" proved to be an incredibly successful film and many of its elements would inspire "Gojira."
In early drafts of the story Godzilla was shown to have more animalistic qualities. His first appearance was to feature him with a bleeding cow in his jaws. Another scene featured Godzilla sinking a cargo ship full of jungle animals and eating them.
Along with several other scenes, the cow sequence was actually filmed but ultimately cut and replaced because it was "too gruesome." To this day, this sequence has not been found although this photograph remains.
