Description
It wasn't enough to draw my own characters, I had to draw some that belonged to my closest friends, too! That said, there were meant to be three more. I just got so sick of drawing flowers, but their descriptions have already been typed out, so I will add them here as well!I won't tag anyone just because I'm not sure who's still active here and who even cares to relive this part of our lives. If they're meant to find it, they will.
Frecklesplash
Red Dahlias
For Love, Passion, Strength, Power, and Perseverance
If ever a character to represent passion and strength, it would be Frecklesplash! Whereas Jay’s red flowers represented playful love, Freckle’s represent a devotion so strong she would have given him up completely if Tiger really made him happy. These traits paid off in the end, since she managed to get her happily ever after right before our group fell apart!
Aspenlight
Orange Cosmos
For Forgiveness, Order, and Harmony, and for the Body’s Ability to Heal Itself
Orange cosmos seemed to fit Aspen best because of how he brought order and harmony to Sweet As Pie as the glue that brought Sweet and Pecan together. As well as how he kind of “healed himself” from some of the traumatic experiences he had before joining the clan.
Sweetblossom
Pink and Orange Petunias
Pink for Gentleness, Femininity, and Motherly Love, and Orange for Desire, Hope, Energy, Happiness, and for Sharing Intimate Moments with a Friend or Partner
Sweet was a tough character to find an appropriate flower for. In the end, I chose petunias above everything else to mirror Pecan’s purple petunias and show how they’re so similar and so different. The pink in a way is about the mask she made for herself: a caring, gentle cat. The orange shows some of her hopes and desires: to be happy, and to have real intimate moments in real relationships.
Lightwind
Pink Hydrangeas
For Love and Sincere Emotions
Lightwind is as sincere as it gets. Her character was always full of every kind of love! She was a wonderful partner and mother, always trying to be the best version of herself for them, even if one particular child didn’t see that for a while. I also found it interesting that a hydrangea’s color depends on the acid level in the soil! I feel like that represents how differently Lightwind could have ended up if she went through the same traumas without her friends and family there for her.
Pansydew
Pink and Green Roses
Pink for Gratitude, Admiration, Femininity, and Elegance, and Green for Hope, Life, Rejuvenation, and Cheerfulness, but also for Fertility and Jealousy
Pansy was a beautiful character! Elegant in her simple color scheme and quiet demeanor, and a pillar to her family. The pink and green roses represent her personality, but also her struggle to become a mother. When she finally got her wish, I like to think she did a perfect job!
Pikefang
Green Zinnias
For Love that is Growing or Being Renewed
You have no idea how much I wanted to do green chrysanthemum for Pike -which were the flowers gay men used to signal to other gay men- but he deserved a serious representation just like everyone else. It works out, because nothing suits him better than the green zinnia. Pikefang’s journey with love was long and hard. Many of his ties were broken and had to be made again, and many relationships ended up going much deeper than he originally thought. He was the last character you expected to have such a large circle, but he truly earned it all!
Palestone
Blue daisies
For long time loyalty and trust
Throughout her entire time, Palestone lived up to her name as the rock of her family. There was no one in the Hailsky lineage that you could rely on more! The blue daisy fits her perfectly, more than any other color, as she never let anyone down or gave anyone up!
