Description Imagine when you go to bed, your prosthetics detach themselves and go have zoomies in your house. Also, Snippet can use a gun against intruders (but not aim well)

When the cyborg named Future [Zach persona] announced that our world would no longer be dead as she received a new World Soul from beyond dimensions [child of the Teeth in the Blazing Storm], a great worry invaded men's hearts: that the previous few surviving remains of the fauna and flora would be obsolete, to be replaced by the new lifeform of a god who would discard them in this great rebirth.

However, while most scrapper spirits tend to possess the numerous debris of technology laying around and lead their own life, they all share this ability -from their godparent who has spent its youth safely tucked within the body of the prophet-cyborg- to connect meld and live in symbiosis with the old lifeforms. This was revolutionary, notably, in the domain of disabilities. A well-behaved scraprite can possess purely mechanical prosthetics and connect them to their owner's soul and thoughts without any pains, not touching the nerves, and serve for a whole day. Once they trust enough the human, they can even enter in a state of rest during the prothesis time, leaving all conscious decisions to them, then waking up the night to go do their own little things. Depending on the needs of their human, it could be however useful to have them keep a sharp mind during the day to be of assistance, as they can be as much of a prosthesis as a service pet.

On their side, compared to wild scraprites who possess various initially incompatible scraps and may spend much energy maintaining these in shape of a united body, the ones who live with humans benefit of their expertise in machinery and maintenance, and get efficient bodies that are comfortable to control, and harder to get dismantled and scattered by hostiles (as it's the go-to technique to harm a scraprite). Over time, they may loose any will to make up their own body based on unhandy material, and become dependent on humans.

Unfortunately, while lots of humans can roam outside without too many worries about the wandering scraprites who tend to be mostly interested in scraps, these could prey on prosthetics service spirits… As scraprites consuming each other may behave in similar ways as blobs (talking about the real Physarum polycephalum) and assimilate some of the prey's experiences and tastes, there is a chance that the hunter who consumed the prey would recognise the value of symbiosis with a human, and try to replace the previous service spirit ; however, as it will have lived as a wild beast, it could be unpredictable and unreliable. Great dominating hunters who have this way indirectly tasted the human soul yet firmly refuse the idea of submitting themselves, could then crave it in a non-consensual way ; they are dangerous and to eliminate on sight. This is why you should never release a service spirit into the wilds, especially if they've lost all independence and self-will with humans, as they will most easily be consumed and dominated in the resulting amalgam.

It is well known that people can get rid of wild scraprites with any kind explosion or general force to separate scraps, as well as various experimental devices tearing apart their soul from their bodies, but lots of people use these a bit too freely with a total lack of consideration for the area of effect of their weapons of fortune, to the horror of spirit prosthesis owners… If you are the latest, be extra careful with who you travel, and refuse to follow anyone outside of cities who consider scraprites as lower inconsequential lifeforms not worth their consideration, express hatred toward them, or talk about hunting them for sports ; an accident can quikly happen.

Sidenote: it would seem that while most spirits still in direct connexion and servitude of the Great Spirit of the Machines and New World Soul, they keep their purple hue, but they may vary with individuality, notably get into blue territories when left to themselves, and strangely get a red-er hue when used to human connexion. If a wild scraprite has a red hue, it's a very bad sign, be on your guard.
