When the two came together, whether it was experience or calmer nerves or whatever it was, Cynthia gained immediate control. The lock up was a quick stalemate until Cynthia batted Raye’s left arm aside, allowing access to her head.

From there she made relatively quick work of headlocking and throwing her hip into Raye, tossing her over and on to the mat in a wonderful hip toss / judo style throw.

On the mat, and from top position she worked on Raye, using her heavier body to ride Raye around the ring while grinding the headlock in the process. All while maintaining such a dominant position she stayed well clear of Raye’s legs, keeping them from becoming any part of a reversal.

It was a great display from a grappler who had found another level of her game and the soaring confidence that went with it.
