Description
Being shapeshifters, Avlix have complex biology. All Avlix are born diploid female, and take on gender roles later on in life as an adult, according to the norms of what caste and workplace they are assigned.

Avlix have one of six bioluminescent eye/blood colors, Red, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, and Magenta. The color is determined by what glowing fruit they are fed during the larval stage of development, and once it has been set, will not change for the rest of their life.

Common Avlix society ascribes certain traits to each blood color and has developed a strict caste system around it, but these qualities are only generalities. Exceptions do exist and are common. All Avlix, regardless of color, are capable of performing all functions capable of all other Avlix, and many are dissatisfied with their role in society, because of their placement in the caste system.
