Both are generally considered two of the greatest villains in all of anime/manga, while also being recognized for being some of the most twisted & evil

Born into poverty and raised in the streets, with them dreaming of climbing the social ranking to become powerful and ruling over others (DIO's original Intention was to Rule The World/Griffith's Dream is to have his own Kingdom)

Using their charisma & beauty they managed to convince hundreds of people to join their side, which they continue to due even after ascension

Both were friends with the Main Character (Jonathan/Guts) but this friendship could been seen as extremely flawed & brutal one for the MC's End (DIO was putting on a Façade to get into Jonathan's Good Graces/Griffith was extremely controlling of Guts and saying that he 'owned' him) but they later turn on them (Jonathan finding out DIO's plan to Poison Gorge Joestar, with him going to Ogre Street to find the origin of the Poison/Guts leading the Band of the Hawk after hearing Griffith saying he doesn't respect the type of man Guts is) which led them to go on downwards mental spirals

Both also massively both hate & respect the main character, hating them out of jealously & for hurting their world view (DIO seeing Jonathan as a man who never had to struggle in life to earn what he had/Griffith seeing Guts as a person who made him forget his dream) while respecting them for their will to go on

This, with also a run in with the law (DIO almost getting arrested for poisoning Gorge Joestar/Griffith being arrested & tortured for having sex with Princess Charlotte) led them to Sacrifice their Humanity (DIO becoming a Vampire/Griffith becoming part of the Godhand) by sacrificing people who had cared about them (DIO using the blood of Gorge Joestar to activate the Stone Mask/Griffith sacrificing the Band of the Hawk in the Eclipse) who they had also sudo-cared about themselves (DIO saying that he'd consider Gorge more of a father then his actual one/Griffith being friends with the Band of the Hawk for ages, being hesitant to sacrifice them before seeing Guts)

They did this using artefacts were created by god-like beings who look down on human beings (The Stone Mask, which was created by the Pillar Men/The Behelit, which was created by The Godhand)

After disappearing from the face of the earth, They returned to the world taking the bodies of a family member of the protagonist (Dio took the body of Jonathan Joestar from the neck down/Griffith returned to the world using the Moon Child's body as a physical form, The Moon Child being Guts' child) who they had killed (DIO killing Jonathan/Griffith corrupting Cassca's Child)

In Berserk and Jojo, Fate is a very driving force of the narrative and is part of the themes of both shows, except they're called by different names (Gravity/Causality), with the two being heavily tied to the concept (DIO believing in Gravity/Griffith controlling Causality)
