Description
A child roams near the dense green and purple foliage of the Coruscate Copse. A rhythmic clicking fills the half-elf's ears as he looks onward into the small cluster of long thin fauna, drawing him closer to the beckoning tree limbs. A distance away, the distressed parents of the lost child search in vein for their doomed son. The boy travels through the Copse, the woods growing impossibly more dense the further he walks, and though the cluster of trees was no more than fifty feet in diameter from the outside, the boy has been squeezing through sharp wood for hours now, maybe days even. Some time later, most likely longer than one may assume, the sweat covered boy stumbles from the wall of grey trees into a clearing. The clicking is no longer audible, and the boy, broken from the trance, falls back into the soft blue grass. His eyes look up to the clear night sky to find alien stars staring back at him. Though it would be easy to miss, the boy noticed immediately that the night sky above him bore new constellations they'd never revealed to him. The boy rested in the clearing.
Some more time later, most likely less than one may assume, a sun shone down on a boy in a clearing in a wood in a new world. The boy stubbornly fought against consciousness as the bright sun, it was so bright on his covered eyes, too bright. The boy awakes to find himself in a beautiful clearing, bright emerald foliage clung to his legs, the sun shone ever so scorching bright, and the sky was the most brilliant swirl of sky blue, cotton-candy pink, and lime. Clicking once again filled his ears, though he was not drawn towards any source this time, no now he heard tiny voices among the clicking and buzzing from the very near treeline.
"The human unsleeps.", "Welcome home not tall one.".
The boy heard the voices as if they were coming from the trees, but it was as if they were also in his head.
"Who are you?! Where am I?!", the boy cried back in fear. The clicking laughed back at him in a mischievous tone,
"The not us is not from this home.", "Home of the us that is. That is to say, perhaps, the home is the home to the Fey of the Wild."
The boy had heard of the Feywild in stories, a brilliantly bright home that masked its dark underbelly of the Shadowfell, however no matter how brilliant, it would of course would be spilling over with dangers.
"And... how might I get home?" The tentative voice of the boy asked out to the clicking voices,
"Home? Home?? Why not Fey, or so to say not human, you are home! The home of not you, or so to say the home of us!"
The boy was growing weary of talking to the Fey, but he knew he couldn't stay.
"No no, how do I go back to the... Material Plane?" The boy recalled his past hearings of what his home was known as.
"NO! No no no no no no no not Fey you must stay. The Fey will shower the not elf with gifts!" Almost immediately hundreds of insects, buzzing and clicking, emerged from the treeline, surrounding the boy in a sea of carapace. The boy recoiled as best he could as the insects crawled over his skin, into his clothes and hair, the thought alone made him wish to spill the contents of his stomach. The boy screamed and scratched at the tiny insects, but soon he was covered head to toe in clicking, buzzing instects. A familiar voice came from the tiny creatures on his body,
"Stay with us, that is the say stay with the Fey. Protect our home. If the not human, but also not elf does, the Fey, that is to say us, will gift you clothes, magic, and foods."
