Description I believe in LOVING people into our RELATIONSHIP with Jesus, not forcing our β€œreligion” on them.
--
The font makes it hard to realize what words I'm putting emphasis on...

Yes, another stamp, but I've been meaning to do this one for awhile.

--
Disclaimer: No one is forcing you to look at this or read this. I am not trying to force my beliefs on you.
If you do not agree with something please do not comment. And for all you out there who are now agnostic, or atheist, or some other religion, because some Christian insulted your personal beliefs, or shove God down your throat, Let me personally be the first to apologize. (But I'm not going to apologize for my beliefs, I will stand for what I believe in.)
If you don't like this then: don't fav or comment, but DO click the previous page button on your browser please. Everyone has different opinions and beliefs, please respect mine. Nobody needs the drama. Thank you.

--
"I have a relationship with Jesus Christ."
"So you're religious?"
"No."
"But you said-"
"I said I have a RELATIONSHIP, not a RELIGION."
--
(Stolen from somebody's signature. Don't remember who's.)
Just explaining why I used the word relationship, and not religion.

------------
To Christians:
This stamp is about respecting people who aren't the same religion as you are. People who aren't Christians don't like to have any religion "stuffed down their throat" especially ours. The best way to help them understand us and our faith, and to help them accept what we believe, is to show them love and live it trough our lives. In case no one else has noticed, lots of fellow Christians or people that call themselves Christians aren't following God's Word when He said that first and foremost to Love God, and to Love others. Just be loving, not forceful. As they say you can get more flies with honey than with vinegar. Gentle persuasion beats brute force.

[link] --

To everybody:
I have seen all different kind of fights where the so called "Christian" was trash talking people who weren't just like them. Most of those people turned out to be trolls. Just trying to give Christians a bad name.
We as Christians are known for what I call the "loud ones" that affiliate with our group, but really don't support the ideas and morals that the sincere Christians have. There are radicals in every group. So please don't judge us all by that one bad experience with a rude jerk who doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut.

I will not force my religion on anyone, I will most likely disagree, but I won't fight about it with you. Different personalities and opinions are part of what makes all people individuals. If you respect me, I will respect you.

If someone asks me a sincere question about being Christian and what it is to be a Christian, I will tell them. It's an invitation they gave me to share what I believe with them, I'm not forcing them to believe it, and it's up to the person to decide if they want to believe what I tell them or not.
------------

TL;DR: (You're lazy ) Just love people!

Haunted-Mind In reply to ??? [2010-12-18 03:33:51 +0000 UTC]

I actually had a coworker (a Catholic) come to me one day and tell me about how she had been at a party in a bar and a Baptist (probably drunk which didn't make for a good testimony) started spouting Theology at her and telling her that she was going to hell because she was following a man-made religion, etc. My coworker asked me to explain the girl's arguments and terms. I was very glad that she knew that, while I am also a Baptist, I'm not like this girl who was beating her over the head with her beliefs.
This stamp says exactly what I felt in this situation. Nice job

Oh, I'm always sorry to hear about stuff like that. That person would be one of the "loud" people I was talking about in artist's comments.
Telling people they're going to Hell is not the way to Evangelize, that's for sure. Telling them that that Jesus freed them from death is heading in the right direction.
Cool, I'm glad you like it.

THIS is something every one of us should remember!
But this truth is hard to learn... You need to love Jesus first, otherwise you're better off not trying to convince people to anything.
That is, you can't love people unless you love Christ (and I mean love, not believe).
If you consciously hurt people with your words, even if you think it's for their good, that means you don't love Him enough yet. Then you should go away and work on yourself before scoding the others. Or the outcome will be quite opposite to the intended.

On another note, could you please explain one thing to me? What is the meaning (or meanings) of "religion"? It looks like it's somehow different from how my native language uses this word, but I can't figure out the difference...
In particular, I'm intrigued by the phrase "to lose one's religion", because here it's a synonym of "faith"? It looks like the term is very wide and unspecified, I can't get a grip of this... :worried:

Thanks. So you like it?
"You need to love Jesus first, otherwise you're better off not trying to convince people to anything."
You're saying something like the passage Matthew 7:3-5, where you need to take the log out of your own eye before taking the speck out of your brother's eye?

To address your other question about the "losing your religion" phrase...
Well I've heard two different interpretations of what this means.

The first one is when you're really angry and you want to cuss someone out, hurt them, ect... (Think of Aunty Em in Wizard of Oz. She wanted to say something to Miss Gulch, but decided since she was a Christian woman, she couldn't say it.)

The other is that you literally are in fact denying your previous faith and moving away from it altogether.
"a recent Grand Valley State University survey on the nonreligious found that most nonbelievers had a religious childhood." From - [link]

Addressing your first question: "What is the meaning (or meanings) of "religion"?"
Well there are several meanings to this one too.
[link]
One way to think of it is as a set of rules to follow, thus guaranteeing your way into a good place after you die. Lots of "religions" are based on this idea.

I don't believe in this, since I believe in having a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus and knowing that only He is the way into Heaven. I myself can never do enough "right things" to make up for any sin I have ever done. Since Jesus was God in flesh, He could actually do something about it to change our sentence to death. See John 8:34-36. He was perfect, and had no sin, only He by God's standards could get into Heaven. But He came to Earth to die (because death is the penalty of sin, so He bared it all for us) so that anyone who believes in Him can go to Heaven with Him.
This would be the another meaning.

The way people define this word is different depending on what they believe. And everyone believes they are right, that's why they believe it, and that's why there are so many arguments about it.

I hope this answers your questions.
Thanks again, and God bless.

You're saying something like the passage Matthew 7:3-5, where you need to take the log out of your own eye before taking the speck out of your brother's eye?

That too, but I also think that you can't speak about love if you don't experience it yourself. People won't believe you if you try to give a testimony of what you haven't known in the first place. You'll most probably just tick people off with your religion instead of convincing them to it. In short, you're going to do more harm than good.
God is Love - if you don't love, Him or your brothers, you simply don't know God yet.

Thank you for the explanation, I still find it a bit hazy, but it sure helped The linguistic bareer sometimes just can't be overtaken, I guess

It is hard to show and convince others unless you've experienced it yourself.

Yeah, it works that way with everything. If someone offers to do something freely, then they're ok with it, but as soon as someone tells them they have to do it, they want to rebel and not do it.
