Description
I don't understand.I'm nice. I'm cute. I'm funny. I tell jokes. But you never even smile at me, hardly ever look my way.
I don't understand why.
I'm an Eevee. I'm just like you. What's it going to take to get you to notice me? To get you to realize that I care about you for you?
I don't understand.
I'm used to being loved. My parents love me. My siblings love me. Even some of the village girls love me. They're nice. I like them a lot. But I like you a whole lot more.
I don't understand.
What's it going to take? What's it going to take? If you would just give me a chance then you would see how great I am. You'd see that I like you. That I love you.
I don't understand.
How can you choose your plants over someone like me? You're always learning about them. Why can't you, just once, ask to learn about me? How can you pick your research and your leaves over someone like me?
I don't understand.
You don't really talk to me. You try to ignore me. I've heard you call me annoying behind my back. But that's because I am annoying! How can you avoid me for so long when I'm trying to get your attention? How can you put up with it and never give me even a passing glance?
I don't understand.
I'm nice. I'm cute. I'm funny. I tell jokes. But you never even smile at me, hardly ever look my way.
I try so hard.
And I don't understand why I try so hard. What makes you different from anyone else?
And. . .I don't understand how I can make everybody love me.
Everybody. . .except you.

In case you haven't figured it out by now this was Moss's father, Donner, back when he was an Eevee in Tao too. Everyone could see how he pined after Diana even though she was way out of his league - and she knew it too. She knew she was too good for a scraggly farmer's son without a Pyen to his name - everyone had heard that he ran away from home in order to avoid hard labor, eventually landing him in the Rogues' Guild in Tao Village.
It was there that he met Diana, one of the more experienced Rogues in town. He claims it was love at fifth sight. She would disagree. Also a botanist at heart, Diana would rather examine plants than deal with her stalker. So she left him alone, hoping that one day he would get discouraged and leave her in peace.
Well, Donner had wanted to be a Jolteon - he came from a long line of them. He began training at the dojo, hoping that by evolving he could finally impress Diana. He stopped himself just before he did evolve, wanting his love to witness the dramatic moment. He knew her favorite places in the forests, but when he found her at last she was in the midst of a fight with three Squirtle near a stream. Donner, of course, rushed to help, and ended up getting knocked out just at the tail-end of his evolution.
He awoke to find Diana nursing him back to health. She was extremely unimpressed with him, but said she was glad that he wasn't dead and even congratulated him on evolving. Donner looked down at himself. He was no longer an Eevee, and he wasn't even a Jolteon.
He had become a Leafeon.
Exactly as planned.
And in the end (years later), Donner got his girl.
And life was good.
Except she still might have liked plants a little bit more than she liked him.
But he got over it, and it was okay.
Also she's almost never home because she's been out traveling the continent and looking at more plants for. . .months.
But he loves her, so he doesn't whine about it.
Diana also never bothered to read any of his books when he became an author.
But their kids enjoyed them, so he got over that too.
Of course, his parents and his siblings (Comet, Rudolph, Vixen, Dasher, Blitzen, and Cupid - totally legit) sort of disowned him for not evolving into Jolteon.
But he didn't like them a whole lot anyway, so it was fine.
And when he grew up he still had to farm a little.
But then he opened a restaurant/bakery, so life was good again.
Yeah.
Oh, that Meowth in the top right corner? Yes. . .that's little Shiba .
