It is an interesting composition as message art. Technically, the clarity of focus on her eyes in contrast with almost everything else and the choice of colors also help convey the message. The message I read is as stark as the image: Look at what women still have to accept as a necessary accompaniment to the modicum of safety patriarchal humanity grants them.
