Description
Night is another daughter/Creation of Khaos and the sister (in some cases Twin sister) of Erebos. She is the night, the original goddess of the dark sky, the stars and constellations, and even sleep and dreams. Like her Brother, she is NOT a dark nor evil goddess. She follows after Hesperus in the celestial parade that encircles the earth. Allowing the moon to shine bright, and the crickets, owls and toads to sing they nightly chorus.

There are only three renderings of Nyx that are preserved, One being a relief on the Mausoleum of Pergamon and the other two being on shards of pottery. There was originally a third, but the artifact was destroyed during WW2. The best image is the relief and even then, the details of the goddess are lacking. I tried to take detains from the pottery for Nyx's chiton and himation. The ancients never painted images in black garments, even on pottery but despite this I used it for Nyx's and Erebos' clothes just to depict their darkened attributes. Nyx's circlet comes from a totally difference reference. And the Bull shield in the back comes from the same sacred stories of Erebos: that Nyx and Erebos had to defeat a bull to gain their attributes.
