There was literally no way this was going to work. Even if that was the only way to wake up, you didn't know how in the world it was going to work.

"Alright. Let me get this straight," You glared at your counterpart from beneath your bangs, floppy, from the amount of times you had run your fingers through them. "We have to merge our souls."

(Name) flinched. "That's the gist of it, yeah." Then she muttered. "I thought you'd take it at least a bit better than this, jeez. Calm down."

You jumped to your feet. "'Calm down?!'" You shrieked. "I was left in an orphanage when I was born, I ran away when I was three. You have been trying to kill me since I was seven, I got sucked into a black hole over my apartment building, killed a couple of teenagers with several serial killers, who I thought didn't exist until a few days ago, and now you're telling me to re-merge my soul with a part that ripped itself off of it's own accord; I'm sorry, but don't you fucking dare tell me to calm down!"

(Name) looked mildly impressed. "Wow. Okay, that just happened." She stood up, and faced you. "You good?"

You took a deep breath, and nodded. "Let's give this a shot."

She held up her hand, palm facing toward you. You matched to pads of your fingers to hers, and looked at her expectantly. She bit her lip, and then said, "On three?" You nodded. "One, two, three!"

You closed your eyes and concentrated. The wind picked up. You tried to remember  what you had been feeling when your wings had come out. Desperately, you tried to grasp at the thin, fleeting, wisp of memory... There! Your shoulders tingled, the familiar shimmering of power surging through them once more, and your shoulder blades arched at the feeling without you realizing. Yet, there was a sensation that you hadn't noticed before. It was a feeling of being incomplete, as if you had lost something you didn't realize you had.

Then you opened your eyes. There was a spire of inky black and bloody copper streaks surrounding you and (Name). You looked over at her, and saw that her outline was fading rapidly. You also became aware that the feeling of loss was quickly leaving you, being replaced by a feeling that a great weight was being lifted from your shoulders. Soon, (Name) became nothing more than a shadow. She finally opened her eyes, and as she looked at you, she gave you a warm, gentle smile. Something in your chest twisted, and you smiled back. Her soft look spread to a goofy grin, and then... She was gone.

The blackness in the spire that now surrounded only you vanished, and you suddenly felt a jerk behind your shoulder blades, as if a pair of wings were pulling you off the ground...

                                                                                                    ~o0o~

    Your eyes snapped open. "Gah!"

You lay gasping in your bed, staring up at the ceiling. You tried to sit up, forgetting momentarily why you were in this bed with nothing but your sports bra on. However, you quickly remembered. "Ngh!" You hissed as harsh pain shot up your chest, burning like hot iron.

From out in the hall you heard muttering, and then thumping footsteps. Your door banged open. In the doorway stood Sally, and a man who looked remarkably like Slenderman. But his attire was vastly different. While Slenderman always wore a black and white suit, this man wore a ridiculous polka-dotted suit with a top hat perched on his head. He also had a face. He smiled at you, and Sally squealed, "(Name), you're awake!"

"Yeah..." You groan. The man comes into your room then, and while he checks your bandages, he introduces himself as Splendorman, brother to Slenderman. "How long have I been out?" You ask finally."

    He smile grimly. "A week."
