Description
LushnessThe vast expanse of healthy green,
Invokes perpetual calm beneath the shade,
Of the majestic guardian trees,
Its colour magnified amidst freckled spots of noon.
Playful sylphs torment the leaves;
being sturdy they do not relent,
For night has come,
Though the day still shines.
Leaning on a tree,
A dedicated artist sat,
Pouring her magic out on paper,
With the delicacy of measured strokes.
Further down the blissful meadow,
There lay a loving couple,
Blessing each’s lips with cleansing water,
Arms, legs, and soul entwined within each other.
And there a homeless chap doze,
Covered in his sun hat,
On the bench or feeding,
The birds, his friend; himself.
A group of youths nearby,
Settled in a wide circle eating,
A picnic of sorts while whispering,
To each other the joys of living,
Spread out in this enchanted garden,
Members of a wedding convocation,
Cousins, grandparents, and little ones,
The groom, bride and friends for the occasion.
The gaiety of this bridal party,
Its merriness felt so lively,
Pictures taken, sandwiches eaten,
And the drunks dancing to New York of heaven.
The flowers of early autumn are at bloom here,
Contrasting the ornate white fountain from the ground,
That such exists brings to mind that time stands still,
When little girls in white chase pigeons around
browning maples gracefully; up on the hill.
