Description
[IXUS II]This piece was taken adjacent to a port where it was rather swampy and mangroves lined the entire shore. Shot in the evening after the setting sun again the brightness of this picture is not too desirable however it gives it the underlying feel of the theme, which is solemness, and the tale of a struggle to survive in even the most adverse of situations/environs.
This concept of fresh shoots and with leaves growing from a 'flooded' medium (its the sea but.. you get the idea) is quite homologous to the great flooding of the world / Ark in the bible where after years of torrential rain these hardy plants still manage somehow to survive.
To me it gives me a tangible feeling of realism, since not only is the picture sparsely filled with such 'healthy shoots', there were also broken tree trunks (really small trunks so it doesnt look like it) and in particular there is one which has white skin (high possibility it is a tree disease). The reflection of what's left of the dying light upon these muddy waters again like in many other shots I do brings time to a halt. A sedative effect this time around also enables you to smile and relive happy memories. Such peacefulness it brings..
