Description It was originally meant to look a little sordid, and give the impression of scariness/doomsdayish instead of being plain bleak.
I also wanted it to portray the rough-going nature of life with the heavy wind and rain going on (yes i am taking photos in the rain under an umbrella with no gloves on -its winter and im holding the metal part of the umbrella- with but a spare t-shirt to waterproof my whole camera excepting the lens call me nuts).

Unfortunately the rain (being Melbourne rain is a pitiful 'drizzle' compared to the thunderstorms we have in the tropics) did not
show through since i was also facing the opposite the direction where the rain was blowing at..

The bridge by itself is a highly significant symbol. All other literary connotations i will leave it to your imagination, beliefs, knowledge and perception. I initially percieved this bridge to be a 'jumping off' point, ie suicide/giving up in the face of harsh reality (stereotypical dramatic situation where one waits at the bridge for a lover but lover does not turn up) but it didn't kind of -really- stressed that message hence ending up with this title. Having said that, the tree on the other side of the bridge as well as the thick mass of grass and whatnots is apt at being analogous to the past, things have grown and history set in stone. A striking contrast (oh no i've started my long winded explanation even though i promised not to >.< to the opposing bank where only a tiny portion of 'land' is in sight, suggesting that we can only see so much of the future and not the rest of the road (again clearly reaffirming that time is but a straight line forward and that life is but from point A to point B and what makes life, life is what we are able to observe, and appreciate during this journey - the surrouns). The outcome of the future has not yet been determined judging by the lack of vegetation excepting the two small patches of grass that could -also- show that there IS a future not some made up bed-time story and that the future leaves many endless possibilities (that the grass could die, or may grow into a fine carpet of o.0 more grass or by some wicked chance of fate end up as a tree??). The bridge is the present, and the link between the past and the future. It is not a static thing and is very fluid therefore nothing can grow on the present nothing permanent since all that the present will be is the past. Notably the bridge is made out of a heck lot of wood, wood signifying vegetation which in turn is linked as representatives of life/people/history/existence. So the present is a whole bunch of people (what else is new?) thingies and ideas that occur -simultaneously- and enjoined to each other -whetheryoulikeitornot-. That the two sets of hand railings have conflicting directions of design (one half pointing left, the other pointing right) describes the opposites that exist in this world acting against one another and it is this force that keeps the universe (and also the fragile looking bridge) from being swept away by the waters or falling apart. Note also the three solid and rather thick upright directionless supports on both ends of the bridge as well as the middle playing the role of 'neutrality'. There are some scrapings or peelings on the bridge supports as you can see the wood has been damaged or smeared with paint guessing it could be that bloodshed is a byproduct of existence and no matter how perfect we want things to be, sooner or later someone will have to get their hands dirty and mess up. Which by far explains in this rather lengthy mini-essay thing the Human Problem! (yesss we are a problem so sue me)

If you made it reading thus far "p salut!
