Hooves clip-clopped on the wooden floor. A door creaked open, causing the foal inside to give a sharp gasp.
"Moony? Are you okay?"
came the whisper of a pink eyed filly. Moondancer's eyes snapped open to look at his cousin.
"The s-shadows...th-they were...were c-ch-chasing me," he replied, his voiced trembling with fear.
Cupcake came closer and nestled herself against Moondancer's side.
"Shh h h, it's okay. The nightmares will go away."

He sobbed into her chest, trembling against her side. Cupcake held him in silence, nuzzling his head now and then as if to say 'I'm here.'

"D-do you promise?"
"I promise. I'll protect you with my life."
