Description
Unveiled on the victory day of June 23 in 2009, this glass monument serves as a memorial to all the Estonians who died during the Estonian War of Independence (1918-1920), which resulted in the birth of the Republic of Estonia. (Unfortunately, it certainly wouldn't be the last time the Soviet Union gave trouble for the Estonians).
The pillar is 23.5 metres high and consists of 143 glass plates. The most notable feature is the monument's top which is modelled according to the Estonian Cross of Liberty, Estonia's most distinguished military decoration established in 1919.
(This photo shows the Estonian name of the War of Independence in the background in it's entirety).
