They would make an awesome team, married and ruling together! Odin, how stupid were you not to arrange that...?

ahh! hahaha! Indeed! I mean, that line creates many odd theories about the brotherhood that feel Thor by Loki.

I think Odin's original idea was to 'repatriate' Loki to Jotunheim after showing Laufey what good care he took of his 'throwaway' son. After all, Loki's a prince of Asgard, practically sparkles when he walks. He's the smartest guy there, top sorcerer, Thor's brother, etc...etc...etc... And years of fighting and sparring with Thor makes him a pretty good fighter (although he doesn't really like it). A son or daughter later,
the Jotuns could simply marry back into the house of Odin (although I shudder to think what Loki would wind up married to, since we never see female Jotuns). I know Sigyn and Angrboda were both supposed to be Jotun, but it would be interesting to see him married to someone twice Thor's size!

That's good said!!
Although I am near to believe Odin that he hadn't any plans with Loki, but since Loki demands here in the scene "to know!" (even if there is nothing to know), he comes up with this story, as he probably thinks, Loki will rebel and that will help Thor in acting adult and as a king. (as the mother said, "there is a purpose to everything your father does") That's why he didn't need Loki anymore at the end and simply gave him a NO instead of "thank you, I appreciate it".O.K., Loki needed to be banished so they could go on with the Avengers, still, there are many not-so-clever-ideas in the script itself, like - WHY would Loki want to destroy Jotunheim, when Thor was banished especially for attacking Jotuns.. Odin didn't want to destroy Jotunheim, why did Loki, as clever as he was, think, his father would appreciate when he would destroy that planet?
I also think if Odin had had plans with Loki, he would probably wanted to marry him off to one of HIS daughters (too bad he hadn't any.. wait, does Thor count? ), since Loki IS a Jotun, he wouldn't need to marry a woman-Jotun.. Loki changes to Jotun as soon as he touches the cube, so the "human-look" which Odin gave him, disappears at that point..
I'm really looking forward to how they will go with Thor2 on.

In mythology, Thor actually acts as a bride for Loki in place of Freya (my name lol) but it was all an elaborate plan to get back his hammer I believe and they didn't really marry

the mythology is written by men, so ofcourse they wouldn't allow them to marry .. But I'm sure they did
.. but kept it a secret *ahaha*

Actually, they probably would. There was no problem with homosexuality a long time ago, no idea why there suddenly became a problem though

Well I wanted to say, that even if there was homosexuality, men would probably ignore that fact while writing books.. those who could write at that time, were monks only..

Not if, there was Did you know the Spartans encouraged it in order to strengthen the bond of their army? Because if they loved each other they'd fight to the death. Creepily sweet I guess

As far as I am concerned, Loki was a bridesmaid of Thor in this myth

A bridesmaid isn't a bride and Thor was his bride

Thor was bride-yes, but not Loki was his groom. So I remember it, it was very funny myth.

Almile In reply to FreyaBigg [2012-06-09 12:09:40 +0000 UTC]
Yes) It was an idea of Loki to wish to this Jotun Freya as the wife. Other Gods decided they could not allow it and sent Thor as a bride. And Loki was Thor's bridesmaid XD

Apparently Freya was pretty raging too, I mean would you not rather marry the 'human' looking Jotun? (Presuming that Loki was also human looking in myth) Yeah and he blamed 'Freya' acting weird on not eating lol

And this Jotun also noticed that his "bride" had strange red eyes. Loki explained that it's because (s)he was missing her groom so much that was crying all night! XD Loki is very mischievous!

Loool! definitely! The goddess Frigg's name is a combination of my first and last name, and she's sometimes considered to be the same goddess as Freya because of their similarities, strange coincidence huh?
