This portrait has a lot of the strength and simplicity of some of the great portraiture from the Renaissance through the Baroque. The pose is quite interesting- adds a nice tension to the calm of the image which keeps it from becoming static. I think the background color is a bit weak- I sort of see something warmer in my mind, maybe towards an ochre or transparent Mars red. Not necessarily darker but just a bit warmer. Second thought is the lower left of the figure, where it flares out under the hand on her hip, has a tendency to pull the weight down and away from the portrait. Try covering up that part a bit with your finger, making her a bit thinner on the bottom- pulls some of the wiehgt from the bottom of the image, back to the complex and enigmatic pose and expression on your model's face. I like the vision here, hope you continue to explore it.
