This is such an amazingly detailed piece of art and it reminds me strongly of a book I once read. It was a pair of books called 'Mordant's Need'. If you haven't heard of them, they are about a land where the magicians use mirrors to transport things between places and eventually people can go between places.
This work is almost exactly like one scene where a woman from OUR world changes the reflection in a mirror to show a meadow amongst mountains.
