"Don't drop me!", Rana breathed, too shocked to scream.
"Oh Honey, I would never drop you", Xolotl reassured her audibly indignant that she even dared to think he would do so by accident.
"W-where are we?", she asked to get her mind off the strange patterns and lights.
"In the Aether! The fastest way to travel!", he answered proudly. "How else do you think I can manage to be everywhere and nowhere at once?"
"I don't know", the Princess mumbled and look down.
Below her patterns and colours pulsated like living things, growing and collapsing each to their own beat. It was difficult to tell how deep the Aether even was but the longer she looked to more it seemed to turn into a giant abyss, ready to swallow her up.
"Honey", Xolotl addressed her. "Just stop looking down or the abyss will become real."
"Real?" Rana squeaked and looked up as if pricked by a needle.
"The Aether isn't just a place to be traveled through, it also holds the potential for limitless creation", the god explained. "If you imagine something in here strong enough and long enough it'll become real."
"Oh", she said and decided to stare ahead since the thought of closing her eyes was even worse.
