Nah man, losing his family (at least his wife and daughter) might be impossible do to what there are but if he did he would either seek revenge from the thing that took them and probably be and empty shell inside... be more sad really.
And they probably own there house do to, again, what the his daughter is and how explaining the weird shit that happens to your landlord would be either really hard or really easy depending if they scare them to letting them stay.

The Simpson's is a cartoon, just animated instead of drawn, and the Art here IS cartoonified humans, not supposed to look exactly like real-life, only then would unseen strange to me. I draw four fingers in my comic too, same for the sunday funnies.

She is not scary, she is creepy, there is a very important difference.
Scary refers to an obvious and known danger, like a shark or a tiger, that beholder is obviously monstrous so it triggers our normal fight or flight response, when we see a danger.
Creepy is different in that it combines what is normally considered safe.

There is no obvious danger, yet there is something wrong.
Take a monster from a horror movie, if it is seen it is always a downer, because nothing is scarier then the unknown that kills. Imagine if we saw last kid from the Blairwitch project being attacked and eaten by a giant insect like monster. Yea it is horrible, yea it was the one that killed all of them, but now we have seen it, so now we can fight it, it stops being creepy and goes to simply being scary.
That is the key to creeps, it is unknown.
