Description Roughly based on the Wing Commander universe.

I loved the games (played them all) and the movie was awesome in my books as well. So this was kind of overdue.

There is not really a story to this; just a Banshee fighter wing on patrol and approaching a gravity well (or maybe a jump point into the unknown...).

---
Background: Textured environment (starfield), plus digital painting. My work. Thank you Google Earth for the planet/moon textures.

Meshes: Banshee fighter by Alan Hart.

Composition: Scene and lighting setup in LW, final composition in PS, including all FX.

Wing Commander © Origin Systems Inc., All Rights Reserved.

Original size: 4750x2250, cropped, including frame with a record breaking (for me) 157 layers and a 1.9GB PSD file!

Comments and critique welcome.

Thank you as well to ~TreeClimber for her usual helpful WIP input.

Well, that is a great game, too! Why not? Wing Commander Privateer is a very similar concept, such as Darkstar One.

Not so far, no. But... never say never.

I may need you to draw some sci-fi comics for me.
Send me a note with your commission price.

Thank you, but unfortunately I don't do commissions. I'm not a professional artist and I have no experience with comics. Additonally I don't draw and most of my works are personally inspired which is where the fun comes from.

So, sorry, but I'm afraid I won't be able to do that.

Great! Love the pic. I used to play Wing Commander. Glad to see there are still fans.

Thank you and yes, most definitely. Especially since sites like GOG.com have re-released (at least a few of) them DRM free and ready for current operating systems!

Although I certainly don't mind some good old dabbling in DOS myself!

Really phenomenal perception of depth in this one!
I am truly loving the multitude of creation here, so much action, and so well portrayed!
At this rate, we'll have to get you a more intense of a machine to do more epic, and more awesome pieces with...cuz...if this is only limited by the abilities of the machine you're on, I am in FULL support of unhinging those limitations!

... thank you.

And no, it just requires more patience, that's all. If anything I should be able to muster that by now. Plus, I've kinda adopted the WIP habit to work in higher resolutions, because downsizing can, well, how do I put this, subdue certain flaws.

But hey, the harder you work, the more rewarding the result.
