There was absolutely no wind because the trees are completely focused. How come?

Yeah, I mean the shutter time is about thirty minutes like you said. How come the trees didn't move a bit during the 30 minutes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

P0RG In reply to blicks23 [2008-08-03 18:35:36 +0000 UTC]

because in exposures as long as this, and slight movement is not going to be picked up. A 3 second exposure, yes. But not for 30 minutes. And also it was a very still night

Well, it may not destroy it completely or at once but try to do some research so you'll know if its really worth it to put ur camera thru such stress...ur Polaris deviation is wonderful tho, how did you know they'll converge in the centre like that??? or was it pure luck???

hmm....

Yeah. I just found the north star (polaris) and composed the shot with it centered

Know the big dipper? Just draw a line from the bottom right star & top right star. Follow that line up, and the next star is Polaris

So how did you get a slow shutter speed like this?
Because mine only lasts for 30 seconds, and I have a Nikon D60...

Ah, yes I do. I was thinking of that when I was trying to get a shot of the stars last night, but I had forgotten how to set it. I guess I can go look it up, thank you

Wow, now I do like this ALOT.

I love the planning that went into this to get it right. love the colours too. I am still amazed that the stars move around in the sky like this, I always assumed that this couldn't be seen anwhere outside the polar regions... *goes to read on wikipedia about the phenomena*

It also reminds me of an animation I saw at annecy whic was made about 10 years ago: [link]

...In fact this is special enough for me to bestow one of my rare s on it!

Well done

I really really like this

Again I love the fect that you can pin-point Polaris and that the movement increases the further away they are.
