Description Finished!(?) I gave a printed copy to three of the ladies depicted in this image so I touched it up a bit; so now I can call it done.

Below is the original gibberish I posted on the first rough version of the image
***************************************************************

It took a lot of convincing to get myself to create this picture. There's a certain amount of honesty involved that I don't normally put out into the world. I also just got caught up in ridiculous ideas, like the Captain Planet elements and animal totems by phylum, which confused the process. So even though it depicts cosplayers they are not wearing their costumes. Maybe this image is just a big ol' mess. But I think it's saying something. Does that mean it's art? Did I make art?

You see, way back at the end of August I attended my first comic/fan convention. It was something that I had been thinking of doing for some time but it was difficult to convince myself that I could withstand the noise and crowds. I don't tend to hold up well in crowded spaces and knowing this, my friends have always advised against me going and I would usually agree. But Fan Expo 2014 came a calling and I figured, "Yeah, I can do this... alone."

So I went: saw some things, did some things, bought some things and most importantly didn't freak out.

And that was in large part thanks to these lovely ladies of cosplay:

Not sure how obvious it was but I used "Cosplay Alley" as a home base.  Between panels, screenings, shopping and meanderings I would stop by to say hello and be greeted by the smiling faces of these wonderful women. They were my support system, my safety net, a gang of imaginary friends to help calm me down when things were too hectic. Now I don't know if they noticed the shaking of my hands or jaw as my nerves wore thin (hopefully I covered it well with a brash and arrogant persona I call Chatelaine Estabon) but if they did it was left unmentioned.

So to Jessica, Nadya, Doomkitty(!), Meg and LeeAnna I say thank you for making my first convention not only bearable but enjoyable. I apologize if at any point I seemed rude or distant. There's this problem with lines. You see, if I'm at the front that means I'm making people behind me wait and that's just no good at all. So at times I may have run off too quick. But trust that you were the highlight of my weekend (aside from being hit by a pokeball from an eight-year-old Ash Ketchum) and I am grateful for your imaginary friendship. Now I know it's been awhile and you may not remember me but this ought to jog your memory  Self Portrait (in costume)

Okay, looks like I've expressed myself. Maybe now I don't have to make the webseries.

Soundtrack included: Finish What We Started - Miles Fisher and Moments - Tove Lo
