This "Owlbear" is a monotreme who got isolated on an island near Australia and grew to the size of a bear and adopted a much more predatory habit. The vaguely feather-shaped, light-colored plates around its neck are flattened quills used for intimidation display and protection. The bare front paws are used for attacking and digging. The Owlbear is generally docile, being the top predator in its habitat, but it can be extremely aggressive when defending its young or kills.
