This not for DBA but made for a DBA-like game based off of the Punic Wars.

The Roman Army of the Punic Wars era largely drew on its Italian Allies for troops as well, but for the citizens of Rome, some sort of standardization was expected. Roles were defined by what the citizen-soldier could afford, just as in the Camillian Legions, but the difference being the role of the Standard Infantryman, the Hastatus or Principe, was switched from a Spearman to a Swordsman. He now fought in a looser, more flexible formation than before, and threw his spear, now the Pilum, instead of retaining the Hasta for stabbing. While it would have been possible for Hastatii and Principes to be almost identical in equipment, this would have been unlikely, as the Hastatii would have been around 10 years young younger and thus would be less wealthy than the Principes. Translation: Teenagers generally can't afford mail. Too expensive.

The Triarii retain their standard Spear, as being older men, their strength and skill are still prevalent, but the agility of youth is now gone. A stationary formation using spears and heavy armor avails them far better than a rapidly moving, loose group of swordsmen.

As for why all the Horses are facing the same way and are the same color, well, there is a Maths joke that proves that all horses are the same color. So, I thought it funny.

The General is not on this page, his place is taken by the Rorarii, which though Socii, they make a good light spear unit to fend off cavalry flanking attacks and plug any gaps that suddenly appear in the battle line that would otherwise be exploited by and enemy. I felt that they would be important enough to put with the Roman legion, and, in complete honesty, I realized I had no room left on the page. So, the Roman General (Legatus) will be put on a sheet with Standard Bearers, Camp Slaves/Baggage Train, and maybe some artillery (When I figure out how to make Artillery).
