History (Ancient and Modern):
Founded in the early part of the Masonic era, its western-European invaders left a great mark on the society that is still evident in its largely agrarian populace. When eastern invaders, during the Crusades, came across Cardial, they brought in a new found sense of spirituality, and founded 'The Faith', a holy order that still holds a great sway in politics today. As the turn of the new century came along, French scientists brought the new world to Cardial and we actually played a small and un-remarked role in both World-Wars, fighting off Turkish assaults on the Socialist fronts and supplying spies to the Allied forces. As the 60's came through, it became evident that the monarchy had little power of the country and that if complete and utter anarchy was to be avoided a new form of government would have to be created, and so in the first ever vote, April 6th, 1967, Cardial held elections to become a Republic.
The vote was passed, and as predicted a member of the Order of the Faith came to power, handing over political powers to the Church. Extremely influential and to great profit to the heads of the church, a long string of popes were voted into presidency. However, the large profit gained by the church, their glittering churches popping up all over the place, came at a price. In a small village to the east of Ventriullus River, a group of net weavers refused to pay the ever increasing taxes (which had reached 75% in the latest years) and a small uprising ended up destroying the village. The next year, 1982, with news of the violent suppression came to the other Southern Villages, including Port Farcry, a civil war broke out. The war lasted well into the mid Nineties when, and the casualties were far greater on the rebelling side. ‘The Mirbel Massacre’ in 1991 heralded the change of tides, when the church ordered the town of Mirbel (Far west of Roseapple) be blockaded and destroyed. A journalist from a local town noticed the fires and dashing over witnessed the death of four hundred and sixty seven people that day. This mans name was Timothy Page and using his contacts in a neighboring country, smuggled in enough weapons to overthrow the Holy Regime.
In January 8th of 1993, He and only seventy other rebels entered Capita Farcry. Within that night, their numbers had swelled ten fold and in the morning of the 9th, Page led what’s now known as the ‘Revelation Revolt’. Marching an estimated seven hundred rebels into the Farcry Basilica, Page forced President and Abbot, Michael Faylee to not only abdicate his position but also propose a cease fire and hold another election, something which had not been held for the last eleven years.
Now in his second term since 1994, Timothy Page has led this small country of Cardial to such great heights that it now has U.N representation in its region and sway in the larger political arena.
Scandals have flown about; that the Cardial Defense Network, created during the change over period between Faylee and Page, has now more control on the people than the government does. Run by Julian McIntyre and funded by the Page Family’s conglomerate company, Page Inc, the tabloids have fashioned that this is to insure Page’s power even if he is voted out.
Page Incorporated has also been connected to mafia activity and illegal experimentation in the Needlewood forest. Both rumors have never been confirmed.
In more recent history, Kettleburg (north of Roseapple) a town known for its uranium mining, has had similar uprisings to the ones Mirbel. When all the local men disappeared into the mines with their families, police went to investigate and never returned. When the military were sent in, a siege followed that lasted for a week. On the seventh day, C.D.N units became present on the scene and all military and civilian personnel were asked to evacuate the area. Within three days, the town was back to normal, re-opened and fully functioning. Nobody is quite sure what happened but the manger of the mine, Richard Newburn, nor fellow miner Jim Hatterson were ever seen again.
Although still holding the majority vote, The republican control over parliament is severely waning, smaller outer rim towns still hold on to the faith and since the turning of this century has only been gaining strength.
Geography
The region is known for its vast range of climates, Cardial enjoys a climate similar to that of Eastern Europe, with a moderate four seasons, warm summers and snow capped winters. mostly inland, it has a corner devoted to Farcry bay, which leads into the Ventriullus River that cuts through the centre of Cardial and the splits up as it enters the Northern Range, a mesa of mountains that lead down to the Needlewood Forest, breaking up all the lands along the north, north-west borders. On the far east side of Ventruillus is the infamous Tet Forest, a deciduous forest full of heavy oaks and shady willows. Deeper into the forest, and as you leave the country, the renowned ruins of Chandra, an old city now covered in an almost tropical density of forestation. Lastly to the south 'The Plains' begin, moving into neighboring regions, vast oceans of knee's high grass on waves of soil.
Port Farcry
Port Farcry is situated at the mouth of the Ventriullus, fairly industrialized at the rivers edges, becoming less the further you get towards Edger and Juno beach. Renowned for both high levels of crime yet also for high levels of tourism; this is the first place you should visit. Edgy and alternative, the inner bay is home to its sea food and industrial business, but also to regular fringe festivals, concerts and raves. The further away from the city you get, the more of a seaside resort feel the place seems to have, turning from warehouses, to luxury resorts then into small B & B’s, catering for all holiday goers. Here you can find beautiful marina's that touch along the pristine beaches and crystalline waters of the Bay. This area is also famous for its fresh seafood and fine cuisines.
Capita Farcry
The Capital of Cardial, yet not the largest is home to the most beautiful architecture in all of the region. Ancient buildings have recently been renovated and are looking as good as new, we suggest a special visit to the Farcry Basilica, a beautiful cathedral with amazing vaulted ceilings and the worlds most beautiful stained-glass windows, depicting the stories of the god's, the history of our eastern ancestors and their trip to the heart of the Eastern Europe, Cardial. Capita has a general stereotype for being old-fashioned; being the home of oldest buildings and business, yet this is not without its cultural relevance, with most of its buildings having heritage listings. There are many tours you can go on, that not only take you on a site-seeing trip, but also bring to life our rich history. Whilst your here we suggest you look into the guild halls and find yourself a job whilst staying with Cardilians, so that you may truly experience the Cardilian lifestyle.
Roseapple
Strangely, Farcry, although being the capital of Cardial, is NOT the largest city, and in fact, the city of Roseapple not only boasts the largest population but indeed that it’s the largest city (Volume total). If Farcry is home to all those things ancient and regal, Roseapple is surely the home to all things up-to-date and modern. The commercial centre must be visited and if you can't buy something in the Roseapple Gardens Market then you can't buy it ANYWHERE. The City that never sleeps, Roseapple is a youngsters paradise full of nightclubs, flashy hotels and moody cafes. Although they have so many reckless teens running about, safety is not a problem in Roseapple with a large and powerful military service only on the outskirts of the city but also the headquarters to the Cardial Defence Network. As you make your way to the outskirts of the city, you will notice council flats speckled between clean industrial buildings. These reach all the way to the river, where a wicker-basket industry born from the early days of settlement still thrives. To the north of Roseapple you find the famous wine growing regions of Cardial, sheltered from the extremes by the Northern Mountains. Then further north, at the foot of the mountains, are the Uranium mines the second strongest industry in the country, funding most of commerce and aiding to our military strength.
Chandra
Chandra, the ancient capital of Cardial. Now days it’s totally dead, apart from the occasional camping trip or adventurous tourist. In its glory days, it was an enormous palace, built for the daughter of the neighboring countries king. The Emperor Tet slaved away for many years, even helping to build the city himself. When it was finally finished, it shone like the sun, ivory and gold in the middle of what was once a tropical rainforest, then became a vast field of village huts, farms and statues to her beauty. When he finished he offered it to her, and asked if she’d marry him and live in it with her. Disgusted at the blatant show of wealth and obsession, she refused him, leaving Tet heart broken. The paintings on the wall, along with graffiti found in Farcry and in the city of Chandra itself, describe a great war that followed and ended with the destruction of the temple, and the death of Tet himself.
For eons after, it was rumored that his death in the city he helped create and destroy, had trapped the souls of both Tet and his would-be-wife, who battle in the tallest tower for time infinite.
Outer Rim towns
Being a relatively primitive country, it’s always a lovely thing to take a trip into the country. In Cardial, its an exceptionally lovely thing, because its practically like traveling back in time. Many of the outer villages, although catering grain, livestock or ore for the larger cities, still exist in the state they were in at the turn of century, now electricity, no telephones, no real sewerage.
Most of these Outer Rim towns are also homes to some of the most magnificent churches, unchanged since the civil war.
for a truly unique experience we suggest traveling to Kettleburg, or to Mirbel, to experience life as it would have been in the most historical significant moments.

The map was copied from a map I found in an old sketch book of mine, inked, then scaned and suped up on the computer. Chears.

I like the feel of this map. The other one is technically lovely, and I like both of them, but this one is nice in its own right.
