Introducing Peri

Peri is an imperfect peridot with a heart of gold. She's the glue that keeps the rebellion together. With a smile, hope that knows no bounds, and a strong sense of justice and honor in fighting for a noble cause, it's easy to see why she inspires everyone to keep going. She was originally created through a cruel gem experiment that left her weak and imperfect. She shouldn't have made it out of the lab but a mysterious and familiar face helped her break out when she was just a day old. From there she accidentally found her way to a kind lavender pearl who took her in.

What started as harboring the young peridot for a day quickly turned into a kind mother/daughter relationship and Peri grew up under the pearl's kind and watchful eye. The pearl was a member of a secret division of the rebellion and instilled that sense of duty and honor in Peri at a young age. When a mysterious accident left the pearl shattered Peri moved in with an acquaintance, a blue onyx the pearl had known from bygone days.

As the years passed Peri grew quite fond of her roommate and warmed up to the idea of having friends again after the tragic loss of her motherly figure. Through her determination she found other gems and reignited the sparks of the rebellion, once again serving to liberate gems under the oppressive forces that govern, and all around looking for a better life for she and her friends.

A few extra things about Peri:

Peri goes by "Peri" or occasionally "Peri Dot" as this was what her "mother" lovingly referred to her as. Being called Peridot is an offense to her and despite her kind nature she'll try to correct the error as quickly as possible.

Peri is tall for a peridot. She's an imperfect peridot which leaves her with "odd" features such as brilliant blue eyes and a taller stature than most others. She wears the boots to "blend in" with the era 2 peridots she works with.

Peri's gemstone is imperfect leaving her unable to summon her intended gem weapon (though she can wield and summon her "mother's" sword). Her powers are faulty at best though her closest friends are working with her to build up endurance and those skills. Due to the nature of her gemstone she can't hold a fusion for very long and is left incredibly weak afterwards.

While some gems can shapeshift a physical body (think heart, lungs, etc.) Peri relies on one all the time to keep her alive due to how weak her gemstone really is. This leaves her more susceptible to illnesses and fatigue though it's worth it to be alive. Thankfully her friends know how to (mostly) keep her out of trouble and safe on the battlefields.

She bears the "Quad-Diamond Insignia" on her uniform being she serves all the diamonds. It's not a mark she wears proudly but tries to keep her aid in the rebellion a secret so she can live another day.

Peri was my very first gemsona. Created back in 2016 (ish? Maybe late 2015?) she's affectionately one of my most beloved gems.
