Story (cont.):

So after filling launch towers with capsules, the last humans (probably a tiny fraction of government) blow up the planet. With no energy sources left, no gasoline or any nuclear fuel left they couldn't launch a single capsule via any other means.

I haven't discussed with the writer (Tim) on how they actually destroy the planet but personally I came up with a theory that they somehow pumped massive amounts of Earth's remaining atmoshphere into the mantle of the planet, causing it to pretty much burst.

The explosion was drawn on A3 paper entirely in biro pen. The colour was done in Photoshop.
