Description
Here is the last painting of the Mesozoic Formations this year: Walking in the Djadochta Formation.73 million years ago, in an arid arroyo that will become the Flaming Cliffs of Mongolia’s Gobi desert, a Cretaceous drama unfolds. On the log in the foreground, four types of mammals watch a battle between Protoceratops and Velociraptors. The mammals include a Deltatheridium, on the top of the branch. A burrowing Asiatherium pops its head from the sand. A quartet of Kryptobaatar watch, one even flees, while a narrow muzzled Zalambdalestes scampers away under the log.
The rest of the Protoceratops heard flees by crossing a river where a Mongolian boy watches the fight on his Udanoceratops steed. Next to the boy and steed are a bird/dinosaur name Avimimus and a group of Goyocphale come for a drink. Further back river is a group of nesting Oviraptors. One shoos off a marauding Gobiderma lizard. Further behind another river is a pair Pinacosaurus also for a drink. Then, rising over the dunes in the background is a herd of Plesiohadros hadrosaurs, walking from the nearby Alagteeg Formation.
Not sure which formation I will do next year but I will keep making art in the fallowing year. I am open to feedback and critiques. Happy Holidays!
